If you guys only made these for an E38.....I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

Interested...email sent, Tom! CDT HD62. May be available for pick-up. What would shipping be to 61084?
curious where you're at in illinois? bloomington/normal area here...middle of the state-ish.
What about sealing the back side of the driver to keep the front wave and the rear wave separated? If you're saying to use the foam on the front in an attempt to seal the front wave to the door panel - thats a fairly poor execution of what could be a good design. The factory enclosures work well because they're just that - they're sealed enclosures. Design a ported enclosure that also goes into the door cavity to gain enclosure volume to get the desired output and you'll have a FAR better design

It's a fantastic idea actually, and I'm far from the first person who's thought of it, and it's not like it's never been done before. The issue, however, is that they would need to be custom tailored to the individual drivers to work effectively. Somebody give me an E39 and infinity time (I work 50-60 hours a week, it's taken me 2 weeks to get an oil change, trans flush, install a trans cooler, and tire rotation done onm my Volvo).
And don't flip me off Tom. We totally used to be e-buddy's, didn't we? Was it my comments on your beloved HAT desk monikers that pissed in your cornflakes this morning??

Damn, that is super clean looking. God I hate my E30 sometimes. Maybe I should just say the hell with buying a house & use the $ for an E39 or something...
What did you use to attach the foam gasket, double sided tape?
Glue.
We have just added this item to our website for purchase. Here is a link: http://store.12velectronics.com/prod...er-Mounts.html
What is the maximum speaker depth allowable using these baffles? The question was asked previously in this thread but never answered........
there's lots of room for depth. if clarus 6 midbasses fit, i'd imagine about anything else should fit.
Clarus drivers are only 3" deep. Lots of nice speakers are deeper than that.
I would like a specific answer as well, as I would like to run mids that are 3.68" deep. Tom did mention earlier, in reply to my question, that the TB 6.5" underhung midbass drivers would not work, but those are 4.3" deep.
you should be able to pretty easily stuff those in the kicks!
Nah, thanks though. Ill pass on kick installs.
Its not DIYMA. I understand and accept that it is probably the single best method for installing mid/midbass, and that I am compromising the sound with my limitations.
I do not want to modify the car that much, and I dont want to lose my foot space. I actually use all of my dead pedal area in day to day driving.
Were I "committed" I would do it, but I dont plan on keeping the car for ever, and one of my personal "mandates" is that a car does not look significantly different than stock, and can be easily returned to stock.
The most extensive modification I have made to this car is cutting out the back ski-pass for the sub. When it is time to sell the car I will pull the sub box, replace the factory speakers/nokia "subs", plug in the factory amp, and put a new piece of trim in the back of the car.
Show me some examples/installs. The only ones I could find when I got the car was the Seas/Lotus install, and I dont think I would get much airspace without cutting the car.

i didn't want to go to the kicks either until i figured out i didn't have to lose the dead pedal space. does require cutting, tho!
(unfinished pics, but you get the idea...)

1. Your legs are hairy.
2. why are the toes of your shoes clean, but the rest dirty? For me, it is the other way around.
3. Looks pretty good. How much did you cut, how deep, and what kind of airspace? I assume it is either "IB" or some sort of leaky sealed box? Using any part of the factory trim, and if not, how does the door sill piece meet up with that area? what wiring is back there, on either side?
How much cutting was actually involved? And where does the dead-pedal go back in place? I like my foot rest.
