Good morning all, I recently posted a thread ...$1600 deal or no deal for a 98 740il that was broken into... Well i am about to drive 2 hours and take a look, see if it is in excellent condition as the owner claims.. Here is my thoughts, If the loosers who stole it managed to drive it by way of a screw driver then I feel rather confident i can get it turned over " I am pretty damn good at mechanical troubleshooting/ problem solving~~ not trying to toot my horn but..." Anyway I am reaching out to YOU PRO's for a good source or website with detailed schematics. In my other forum for the e30 cars I posted http://www.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e32/e32_93.pdf which is an awesome site with great info on the selected 80's and 90's bmw's however only goes up to the 1993 740. I would appreciate any and all feedback, Thanks in advance and all have a great HUMPDAY~ Peace~~DC

Thre are lots of write-ups and technical PDF files on www.e38.org
I doubt anyone started an e38 with a screwdriver...the e38 has EWS which requires that the key (with an embedded transponder) be present at the time of starting...if not, the fuel, ignition, and starter are immobilized.
The e38 requires that the key, EWS control module, and the car's ECU/DME communicate with each other BEFORE the car will be released to start.
