recently bought a three spoke steering wheel but found out that are two types of thins kind ? can anyone tell me the exact spec. year etc ? mine is like in the second picture you can see there is a slight diference between them . same size i've checked. even the emblem in the middle is different.

Is the E46 wheel the same diameter? Or does anyone know the diameter of the E36 wheel?

The e46 steering wheel is the same diameter as a e36 steering wheel. If you want a smaller diameter steering you need to look for a 98-99 e36 M3 3-spoke steering wheel. Look at the frankies DIY to see what the different steering wheels look like. Also you can usually find used and refurbished 98-99 M3 3-spoke steering wheels on eBay motors. Here is a link http://www.ebay.com/sch/6000/i.html?...ssories&_rdc=2 I bought a refurbished 98-99 M3 3-spoke from tainik in Germany. It took 8 weeks to get it but it is well worth it.

I just installed an E39 steering wheel with the radio and cruise hooked up. Are the wires/plugs the same on the E36 M3 wheel?

There are no radio and cruise buttons on a US e36 M3 3-spoke steering wheel. The wires/plugs hookups for the horn are explained in the frankies DIY.

Those pics are both standard euro wheels, can be put in ur e36 using above diy

the instalation was no problem. got the horn working everything ok. just was wondering why the difference between them the one on the left looks better to me
As for size they're the same.
