You work a lot differently than me. I would've taken the alternator ductwork (radiator cover thing) off, and the belt completely out. But wouldn't have used cardboard to protect the rad.

    Haha, ok.

Contact Vorshlag when you are ready to get some real camber plates, that are ready for the abuses of motorsport.

Power steering flush, afaik the first one this car ever had.

Haven't been on the forums lately. Not much going on with my car...but I bought new wheels today.

    Shit. Yes.
Glad someone picked those up for a car they will suit. Whats the plan?

The rational part of me says "get some Continental slick takeoffs and make these a track-only wheel"

The fun pat of me says "BALL OUT AND RUN EM ON THE STREET"

Absolutely run them on the street. The main question about the plan was, how will they fit? Tire sizes, alignment, all that jazz?

Ah! Should be fine. Currently running Arc8 17x9.5et35 w/ 20mm spacer with 255/45/17 (or maybe 255/40/17? idk). I'll probably step down to a 245/40/17. Gives me way more room between wheel and suspension, and results in the wheel sitting ~16mm further out, which should fit fine. May need to add a little camber in the front and rear, but that's fine.

These wouldn't even be close to fitting on a stock body car, thankfully my overfenders solve that problem.

Also, some history on these wheels from the PO if anyone is interested. Emphasis mine:

I bought them in '02, maybe '03 from a guy who was one of the lead techs on the ptg m3 race team. The story from him was the the race team accidently ordered 3 sets of these from bbs. They were trying to ordered 3 sets of lug bolts or nuts. For reasons I don't remember or he didn't tell me was that they never or couldn't return them. So he kept a set and sold the other 2. He said he used them as a coffee table briefly and decided to sell them. So when I bought them from him, there were supposedly only 3 sets in the country.

Nice, I knew it would be a little easier with the overfenders, but didn't know how much more room they offered.

Got the car on the dyno last night to get a baseline, since I've had no idea what the car was putting down from the time I got it.

Looks like one of the previous owners had a tune installed once we looked at the ROM.

    226whp/230ft tq

I'll take that, not too shabby for a tired S52 w/ 192k on the clock.

Sold my LTW wheels and picked-up some DS2s so I could turn that cash into something else later.

    Grainy pixelated pic for fun:

I always want to cry when I see the gap between S52 torque numbers vs. my 2.8L. (~30 ft lbs)

Do you have a 3 clutch LSD in it these days?

You sir, have a hell of a build then. I had a peek.

The 3 clutch completely changed corner exits for me, I am madly in love with the feeling of it. That bite, as well as the confidence under braking... makes me wonder if I should have gone 4 clutch, or would that have been too much of a good thing?

Just as an FYI, if your OBD2 car runs a OBD1 dme, it will need a complete OBD1 ABS system in order for your ABS to ever work again. It took some digging, but it seems this is rarely talked about so I thought I would bring it up.

Anyway, during a last minute shakedown of the newly installed 3 channel ABS system from a OBD1 E36 Friday night, the unit completely shit the bed. Which also took out my entire cluster (undriveable), unless the ABS fuse was removed.

Another OBD1 ABS unit was sourced that same night, but the work had to be completely redone to find the source of the issue before installing it... and as such, I missed Round #9 of BC after 18 hours straight of work on the car.

I thought that could have been the end of the season for me, but it turns out that my biggest competitor also didn't show up, so essentially nothing has changed, and the goal is still to win the final 2 rounds.

I will be bringing out the full competition setup to test this weekend @ SoW CCW, so I know for a fact it is ready to go in less than a month @ Chuckwalla CCW for Round #10 on 11/17.

Pretty sure my driveshaft needs to be replaced. Replaced the guibo a couple years ago, didn't like how the driveshaft felt then, but figured I was paranoid. Getting vibration under hard acceleration again.

Anyone have experience with wholesaleimportparts.com? One thread I was reading had good things to say but they didn't follow up beyond 2k miles and couldn't find much else about them.

Looking like the to do list is exponentially growing. Fortunately this will the first winter I have a usable garage all to myself, so I should be able to chip away at it. Both rear bearings need to be done, so planning on dropping subframe and doing all the bushings as well, plus then I can just use the press at work. And new driveshaft/guibo/csb. And shifter bushings since I bought all the stuff but didn't get around to it the first time. Fun fun.

I replaced the spring on my fuel door. Best $2.24 EVER spent! No more open/close 50+ times before the thing held shut.

ABS system bled with OE brake fluid last night. It has been a month since I drove the car, but I dont remember pedal travel being this long. Also seems to lack the same modulation.

I am going to flush it with fresh RBF660 tonight, and I hope that cures this pedal/modulation issue. Also, noticed that my Hawk DTC60s are going to need replacement soon. Will be placing an order for Endless ME20s next...

Stuffed a 255/40/17 with 20mm spacer and a drop in the rear. Verts have so much more space than sedans back there. It’s really close tho so might go down to 12-15mm if it rubs.

Depends on your offset and camber. I rub slightly with rolled fenders on my autocross wheels. 245/40/17 on 17x9" ET41 at -2.0°
