Picked up the Metal Capped OFH locally for 10$, gonna give it a good clean. At 169k the original OFHG isnt leaking, but i'd like to get to it before that. Nice that i can now ditch the M52 plastic cap garbage.

What did you do to your e36 today?

Took out the back seats yesterday and did some minor fixes like tightening the throttle cable and such.

Soaked my serpentine belt in warm soapy water and scrubbed the ribs out with a tooth brush. Wiped down, cleaned out the pulleys and scrubbed out any contaminants on them. Belt is quiet like new again

Changed the air filter and cleaned the guide pins on the left front. When I took it out of storage, there caliper was sticking a bit. There was some squealing and I did the test where in neutral, you pump the breaks, and try to push it; there was some sticking. It's a bit better now, but I suspect it may be the right side as well, so I'll have to check that out.

Also, I'll debating on what size spacers to get and if I should convert to studs or not. I don't like the idea of having one more point that could potentially fail. However, I like the ease of re-mounting, and not needing to buy different lug bolt every time I change spacer sizing.

Finally mounted by RC041s after refinishing them last fall.

The parts arrived this morning so I was able to finish the OFHG job. The new vanos line wasn't exactly like the old one but still fit fine. Haven't run it long but no visible leaks.

You will need the power steering pump as well....

Got my Euro wheel installed. I am going to have to pop off the airbag, take out the bolt and rotate it clockwise one tooth. Other than that it is spectacular, big difference. The diameter is a little larger so it gives a cleaner view of the gauges, and the feel is a bit different. Might take a couple of drives to get used to it.

How do the added lower grips feel? That's the one thing that I'm noticing on a lot of these new refurbs is that if they have the thumb rests (which seem okay) they also have the added lowers...

It's perfect for me beacause the larger wheel brings it slightly lower, and that's where I put my right hand and rest it on my knee. I keep my left hand at 12 o'clock.

Dropped it off to get the car on the dyno this week and locate the cause of the 6200 rpm misfire. Bimmerfest is 25 days from today!!

Then the rear main, flywheel, and clutch are getting replaced. All made it to 162k without any problems, and I am quite pleased with that.

Also, going to replace my tranny mounts with some delrin pieces... I am getting way too much shifter movement with the tires I am using now. I should have done this a long time ago.

I wet sanded and polished my hood again, the fade was starting to come back a little. It lasted over 6 months outside, I think that's pretty good for paint that was basically flat black when I got it.

Maybe you could try adding a ceramic coating like CQuartz to get it to stay like that? I'm going to be doing that to my entire car soon.

The paint is worn through the clear in some spots, you can't tell because... 5000 grit polishes anything. I have a carbon fiber hood for it, I am just keeping the paint semi presentable until I get the carbon one painted.

Otherwise, the front fenders, bumper and passengers door are Cosmos and the rest of the car is Schwarz II. I just keep the paint pretty mirror polished so you don't notice that much in most lighting situations. The last thing on my list is to paint the car. I will do it myself because I can do a better job than most shops will. Mostly because I know the best products to use, the right methods and will take my time to do it right. Most things I don't trust others to do, somewhat out of frugality and a large dose of being very particular about my things.

Re-purposed some old parts to make a beefy overkill battery tie down for my first ever auto-cross and rally-cross this weekend.

Had to trim the metal tray on the left side:

"Finished" part (paint it drying now), along with a plastic battery terminal cover I made:

Threw in the CAE shifter today. Completely changed the car. Love it. Can’t wait to see how it does on track in a few weeks!

Finished the 330i/328i brake upgrade and realized not all 17s clear the larger front calipers...

I like the white on white. Very early 2000s.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring
