Got my car back from the shop today after having my OPL aluminum radiator replaced for the second time with a Behr Z3M radiator. Both the welds on the OPL rad started to crack and the drain plug O-ring started leaking after only a year. I also had a Spal puller fan wired in to run while the car is on.

Made a little DIN panel to relocate the switches that used to be on my center console.
Take the housing for the window switch and what I assume was supposed to be the heated seat option, and cut off the heated seat bit. File down the cut edge so it looks better:
Cut out a panel from some plastic so it is a nice tight squeeze into the DIN radio spot:
Mark out the switch holes and then use a drill and jigsaw to remove the majority of the material. The rest was removed with a small box cutter:
Mount the panel in the car and begin the search for some knobs that will allow me to change my A/C controls:

I also found out yesterday that the TC Kline 4pt Roll bar does not fit the 318ti. Looks like I'll have one for sale soon to fund my 1.75" die and some tube for my bender.
Painted my new hood center vent. Hope to install next weekend.
Installed suede Sparco steering wheel.
Installed CF to roundels.
Estoril 97 M3/4/5 returned to my hands from RRT this morning. I parked her years ago when life got in the way. She had issues, so I bought an A6 and cruised around like grandpa and just kpdept on truckin. She collected dust in the garage, flat-spotted tires and dripped fluids all over. It had to have been 3 years in solitary, but I had her towed to RRT and brought back to life. She ain’t perfect, but them’s good bones at this point. My end game for her was always get her to 25 yo, slap some antique plates on her, laugh at emmissions tests and go big.
I need to find something to do with the dove grey mess that is the original seats and armrest. I’ve seen plenty worse, but the ole girl deserves better. Estoril paint is immaculate. Suspension works like a champ, but the TCKline D/As are too damn noisy for an old bastard like me at this point. I just need a nice balance between bad-assery and streetabilty at this juncture.
Just a few more things to figure out...
Waiting for rear shocks and also on Saturday the water flange plastic adapter on back of motor cracked at the hose, so had to order that and new hose.
So spent day detailing oxidation off of the car. Looking much better. Lots of claybar and ultra compound with polisher from harbor freight. Smooth as a baby's butt now. I once I claybar the whole car I will run the compound and then polisher and wax to make her shine. Car been sitting for 2 years in the sun. So no cover on it, just layers of old dirt. Taking time, but cleaning up well.

Bought some Apex ARC-8 with NT01s
Just realized that I essentially took zero photos of the process, but I put a 3.91 LSD in the car yesterday.
The last 2 track days I felt like my diff was being "weird". Not locking properly and just caused some weird feelings in the rear end through hard corners.
After pulling the old diff, I looked in the drain pan...
Chunks. Metal chunks. Not good!
I cleaned up the new diff (kinda) and swapped on the cover from the 3.23 because it had the nice AKG bushings in it.
Install wasn't bad at all, as I had some help from my dad. Removing the old diff sucked because it fell off the jack and I just had to muscle it out lol.
Only drove it around the block, but jeeeeesus this is gonna be fun. I gave it some throttle in first after pulling away from a stop...it hit redline with the tires spinning scary fast.
This is the part where all the haters says "highways are gonna suck!!!" "haha rip mgp!!!" "not ideal for the street!!!", and to them I say "dgaf yolo racecar shit and also I have a daily driver"

Remember to get your engine oil up to temp before getting on the highway.... takes about 15mins, or enjoy driving below the speed limit until it does get to temp. I know I do, not, lol.
Damn good point. Looks I'll be seeing a lot more of 5th gear in the mornings.
Its actually not QUITE as massive of a difference as I was expecting, but that's probably a good thing. My buddy has a 3.91 in his E36 and is into 5th gear on the front straight at Thunderhill. I'm usually most of the way through 4th. Really looking forward to seeing how it does on track.

Hey Michael, is your old diff the reason you went off track so many times???

I know my 3.73 is at 60mph at 3k in 5th... which would put you around 57mph @ 3k in 5th. I hit 5th in multiple spots (5x) @ Buttonwillow #13CW now... only used to hit 5th briefly after the Esses w/ the 3.38.
I am glad that my exhaust is still silent AF... the highway @ 4k rpms for hours to and from the track isn't that bad... gives me a solid reason to go a little slower than usual.
So glad I actually got to drive around top down it was awesome been forever it feels like
