UUC flywheel & clutch installed today. Waited over a week for the clutch, good times. I will be sitting in traffic all weekend getting my break in miles before Bimmerfest & Bimmer Challenge next Saturday.
So I'm super concerned my RTABs are torn because I didn't use anything to preload them when I installed them, or that I tore the subframe. The rear end is loose and has a lot of body roll, especially when passing or merging on the highway. I tram line and the car drives itself sometimes. I've done rear struts and mounts. Any ideas what it could be? I'm going to check the pockets when I do the camber arms and balljoints this weekend, but does this sound symptomatic of something other that RTABs or subframe? The steering in front also feels kind of loose.
It is all too easy to get your car in the air & unbolt the Trailing arm at the RTAB Pocket (x3 18mm bolts, Re-torque to 57ft lb, The 1 18mm for teh carrier is 81 ft lb) and check for tearing in the Bushing or the pocket itself. We cant say anything that will give you the kind of peace of mind, that a quick visual inspection would.
You may be able to spot a subframe crack, but a little more thorough investigation would be needed; although what you described sounds like (To me) Rtabs. There are ways of cheating the preload (freezing them for ex) on OEM Rubber, but i always recommend Poly replacements as nothing about dealing with the OEM bushings is appealing.
Best of luck.
---Edit---
Have you had the car aligned since your bushing work?

I had the car aligned when I did the rtabs last year. I haven't installed the new rear control arm balljoints, bushings or camber arms yet, that's what I'm doing this weekend. I plan on checking the rtabs since I'll need an alignment either way. I opted for OEM Lemforder bushings with limiters. I can't remember, but I don't think I'll be able to see any tears with the limiters covering the rubber and I rather not pull the bushings out as that's quite the job itself. I'll inspect the subframe the best I can.
If I need to replace the bushings, maybe I'll just opt for poly this round. Or maybe I'll have to look into preloading the bushings properly. After I replace the control arm balljoints and bushings, I'll have the alignment shop inspect the rear for me as well. There's really no BMW specialist where I am, so I'm kind of left to figure all this out with the help of the forums. I honestly would have never bought this car if it wasn't for the forums.
Sold my DS2s so now it's time to drop these bad boys off at the refinisher tomorrow.

typical low problems... about the 5th time fixing this lip. I went sloppy this time. Usually I use fibreglass repair kit, and patch the inside with mesh. This time, I said F-it, and used a good amount of gorilla glue, added some wood shims, and slapped those behind. Then bondo'ed the front like usual. Seems a lot stiffer than before lol.

Put about 50 miles on the UUC Stage 2 last night. Couldn't be happier with it... the delrin tranny mounts on the other hand, hory shet. They replaced UUC black w/ enforcers that was causing issues with drivetrain movement at my current grip levels... I hope the calm down after 1-2k miles. They are intense.
Finally got a picture of the new heavy duty front strut brace from Garagistic installed. I spent 2 hours hand sanding and prepping this bar for paint, and they offer powder coating for $25. I'm dumb.
Also, still need to trim my beauty covers once I become 100% on the OBD1 conv.
That brace looks AWESOME. lol on the powdercoat...
Haha, I'm hoping the powder matches the center caps fairly well. They showed me the closest silver they have and while not 100% match it's pretty close. Worst case scenario I can take a wheel to a paint store and have them match it and make me a can, then I can spray the center caps myself.
Went to the Junkyard for E39 stuff, ended up with E36 Stuff
Grabbed some E46 330 Front / E46 328i Rear Calipers for my next brake overhaul (should be soon), Also Scored an Early model 328i Non-ASC throttle Boot so i can get delete that non-sense asc throttle body. Checked it out for rips and it is actually pretty clean!
& here are some oddities i found at the Junkyard
Was really debating on buying these rimz to keep up with Lock Dots
Bet this thing was fast
This Stahlblau 323is was nice, the interior was a few shades off the standard beige interior, almost in between magma & modena. Very peanut buttery
Even had extended leather Door Cards
Ive always been a butt hurt for these Ti Seats

Got shifty
Thanks to that low life and a really stupid parking lot with a massive drop on the exit I smashed the bumper and broke a bumper mount beyond repair, so I installed a set of rubber band style bumper quick releases to hold it in place. Then after a year of putting it off I finally took the time to mount my luxury sideskirts I painted last year and topped it all off with a good detail inside & out.... was a busy but productive day today lol.

Replaced my year old OEM style front control arm bushings with non-offset, solid rubber units. They were sold as bilsteins for e30's on amazon and ended up coming out of Venezuela, I didn't notice that till I tracked the package when they were overdue. It solved the steering chatter I was getting while braking but leaves some give for the road.
Picked up a set of wheels dedicated for autocross. D-Force LTW5 17x9. At just under 17lbs each these will be perfect to beat on while using the ACS for street. Looks like I'm going to have to roll my fenders a bit since I plan on wrapping them in 245/40/17 RE-71R's

I think you may be a bigger wheel whore than me. <3
I need to stop. This may finally be the combo I'm looking for though lol

Those D-Force wheels look nice. I always want a set...but then I always remind myself to stop touching what works on my car. I doubt you need a roll... I run the same specs with no roll.
