What did you do to your e36 today?

Threw the car on a lift last night to inspect it before the long awaited Bimmer Challenge debut. Wanted to track down an odd noise I have coming from the rear.... turns out to be my diff. FML

Fortunately enough, one of the techs at the shop has a 3.38 sitting in his delayed & unfinished s54 swapped e36, he offered to swap in his diff for next weekends event.

Guess that 40% lock diff I have always wanted is going to be an immediate priority... which I should probably keep on the DL, dont want the e36 spending police to write me up for excessive spending again.

Hopefully picking up some snows today, my all seasons are 205 in place of my summers that were 245. Still sent the M3 off the road when I hit some very cold wet roads on my all seasons. They're essentially slicks...

After the other vendor held my order since the middle of last month, I ordered it from Amazon Wednesday. So both the Mishi tank and my main order of cooling parts was supposed to be out for delivery today.

But it snowed and all of the deliveries got pushed back. I think the universe doesn't want me to fix my car.

But... I had plan B and ordered a cheap OEM type POS plus a new bleeder screw and cap as a back up.

It was also delayed because the USPS cancelled deliveries for the day. So I put the JKU in 4WD and went and picked it up myself.



So I have the bare minimum I need to keep the fluids inside the system at least.

I will keep the Mishi in the box and put it on after I finish the last bolt on my cooling system upgrade (Like the star on top of the Christmas Tree).

Hopefully I get a good one. I've heard some have had bad tanks from Mishi. We'll see.

Procrastinated too much. At least got them on before it got dark. Didn't check pressure yet and like to take a quick spin and then re-torque.

I got my headlights wired, I didn't get around to putting in the corner lights tonight I will get that in the morning.

Installed new oil filter housing gasket and bush. Nasty oil leak and also replaced one of the radiator hoses on the top. Also had to replace belt tensioner, the torx on the old one stripped bad. Got one with a 16mm bolt in it instead. Much better.

No more oil leak. Woohoo!

Mounted an almost new set of 205/55/16 winter forces on my baskets for the M3, should be very nice this winter

Have you fit those wheels before? Most 16s won't clear M3 brakes.

Yes they're basket weaves of an e38, one of the few 16's that will fit.

My brother came over and cleaned my headlights and restored them to looking pretty darn new. First two photos before second two after and fifth of him doing the work.

Also I started to sand hood and use claybar to start cleaning up the terrible oxidization on the paint. Looking better, did not take photos, forgot to do that.
