Is this the same player that I see as an option on a 2001 model 525, 528 or 540? Does the CD replace the casette portion of the radio or is one entire unit with the radio?
: Yep. It replaces the tape deck that comes standard. At least it was standard in the '98 528i that I traded yesterday. (Actually it's the radio receiver too! That's why it costs so much.) It mounts in the dash under the flip up wood panel above the radio dislay. Works very good. You lose the WB (NOAA weather) but gain a SW band for what it's worth. The AM and FM remain the same. I bought it from VOB BMW in March or April for $530 or so w/BMWCCA discount.
