Hi all, should the button on my ASC switch light up at any point? The letters ASC light up with all the other instraments when the lights are on but the button never does.
No. It does so in the E32 but not in the E31. There not even a bulb for it in the E31 button. It moved to the dashboard.
E31 ASC button: (1 bulb for ASC text illumination)
E32 ASC button: (2 bulbs for ASC text illumination and one for the ASC mode)
okay bro, I gotta ask... how big is your beautiful picture collection of BMW parts? They're just spectacular and seem to be photos for every instance!

Revtor, thanks for the info, I can cross that one off my list of interior bulbs to repair.
Thanks again. Luke.
Silly question but does the E32 ASC button fit E31? And would it light up? Stupid question, pardon me.

Haha, I just happen to make pictures of whatever I get in my hands
It fits in the center console, but the plug is different. You could also put an extra bulb in the E31 button - it's prepared for that. But even then I'm not sure it'll work. Since the light was moved to the dashboard in the E31, I assume the wiring did change too. The ETM doesn't give any details on this.
Someone knows the p/n of the plugs and pins which go into the ASC switch plug connector of the E31 and E32? The connector E31 and E32 is different as per the pics from revtor.
Looks like there are old and newer switches and the plugs are different.
