    e36 speaker sizes

I am wondering what size speakers go into the area of the footwell in the front seats. And also the one on the door below the tweeter. The car is a 325i 93

The front kick panel speakers are 5 1/4". The midrange speakers (below the tweeter) are not any standard size, though I understand they measure about 3 1/4"?

I removed my rear speakers, but is it possible to replace the factory 4" with an aftermarket 4"? The enclosure is circular NOKIA with a screw secured at the bottom. It was difficult to remove it, and now i cant remove the factory speaker from the enclosure. Its glued on somehow. Has anyone tried to remove and replace it or should i just dump this and get 6x9s? I ask because i already bought 2 way pioneers.

Just buy a set of 6x9 speaker adapters for an e36 from Ebay and then just a set of mad 6x9 speakers it will sound so much better than 4"

and I used Kenwood KFC-6965S http://amzn.to/2n4g4BR for the speakers but you can use any of your choice 2 way.

As long as we are updating an old thread, I'll add two cents.

These are the dimensions for the HK speakers in the front door of a 1997 M3 4-door sedan with black interior.

Tweeters: 2" hole in door panel, 1.75" diameter opening inside the housing, housing depth 5/8-3/4" (tweeter still installed so that's an estimate).
    Tweeter is part no. 65.13 - 8 336 461, marked "4W 4 ohm"

Midrange: 2 7/8" hole in door panel, 2 9/16" diameter opening in housing, 2.5" driver diameter, housing depth 1.5".
    Midrange part no. 65.13 8 366 465. Marked "20W 3 ohm"

Left and right midrange speakers have different part numbers (probably for the HK emblems to look the same) part Numbers from RealOEM:

    Midrange: 65138366465 (L) and 65138366466 (R) (black color)
    Tweeter: 65138366461 (both) (black color)

Do your door speakers have "HK" on them? If not, you probably have these:

    BMW E36 Coupe/Sedan w/ Standard:

    DOOR
    2.5" Front Midrange
    ~5/8 Front Tweeter

    KICKPANEL
    5.25" Front Midbass

    REAR DECK
4" Rear Midbass - Inside Enclosure
~5/8 Rear Tweeter - Inside Enclosure

It's probably easiest for you to find a component system to replace the tweeter and midbass in the front (skip the midrange), and then get 6x9 adapters for the rear deck speakers and get 6x9's.

If you want the easiest solution (not the best or cheapest or most expensive), go to https://www.bavsound.com/ they offer "plug and play" components that fit in the stock locations.

    Hello.
I have a 96 328i with HK audio. The car came with an additional sub-woofer(2) and 1000 watt amplifier.
Does anyone know if by removing said sub-woofers and amplifier will the 'plug and play' speakers from Bavsound work properly?

It would all depend on if the original wiring was cut into.
