just replaced my transmission mounts in my 2003 540/6 with 115k miles. Somewhat of a waste as neither mount had any tears/rips/cracks. Visually the new replacements (Lemforders) werent as compressed as the old originals, but that's common when comparing new mounts to old. And within a short amount of time, the new ones will compress downward a bit as that's normal.
Zero difference in anything since the replacement.

I suggest inspecting (easy) the transmission mounts before blindly changing. May be wasting money

Motor mounts were replaced over a year ago. One of those was definitely torn/leaking.

    E39 Motor and Transmission Mounts

Good morning! The photos are stuck in Photobucket which changed their photo sharing policies. I’m not positioned for $500 a year for photo sharing. 🤪

I have to move a couple of thousand pictures and recover/repost. Just need time to move them over. The fun will be trying to recall which picture went to which post over my various DIY posts.

I’ll see what I can recover over the next month. Lotsa posts in lotsa forums...

All good, probably no need to do all that since it's written up pretty well. I'm gonna start this project today...

The bentley manual is worthless for this job, can't find any mention on motor mounts whatsoever!

    ***** EDIT *****
Do you guys replace the motor mount nuts as well? I want to reuse old ones....

I reused all the old nuts.
    Front mount replacement info....
You may have to remove the clutch fan, depends on how high you need to jack the motor up, I've got an electric fan so I didn't need to.
Remove the top nuts first, then jack the car up, remove the lower engine cover, then 2 nuts on the bottom of the mounts.
If you have the engine up high enough the mounts will come right out.

Thanks bud. I got the job done. Fan cleared the shroud by a centimeter or so. Both mounts were popped, one completely destroyed, a metal power steering line was cutting into the mount!!! Car feels so much smoother now.

    Thanks all.

How were the tranny mounts? They typically all fail together...

Reviving an old thread. E38 M62TU44 - left engine support snapped. I was going to change mounts anyway, but anyone changed left support?
