Well if we can relay the car to VA that would be great. If not and you guys can get it to Kish I will round up a buddy load up the trailer and pick it up in NJ. 24 hrs. round trip I'm young and dumb so it won't bother me that much.

Jim I'll send you a pm so we can work out final logistics.

I think you're over engineering it. The odds of being hassled by the man while towing a $300 car on a trailer seems very remote. Signed title and bill of sale should be more than enough to vouch for the transaction, IMO. I bought a car in Kansas City and drove it home. I got pulled over in New Mexico and showed him the title, proof of insurance and bill of sale. He never said a word about whether I owned it or not.

Towing the car on a trailer isn't a problem, driving it might be, That's the part of this adventure that I meant to address. I don't want one of the helpers in this adventure to be placed in an uncomfortable position, hence the desire to do this in a legal manner.

Well, I'm old and jaded so I'm good with whatever we need to do. If that means a marathon road trip with trailer in tow, then so be it!
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think they are more worried about driving it down to kish and so on.

Once I take delivery of the car it will go on the trailer, and won't be a problem.

    Jim beat me to it!

You guys forget I live in NH...

    1. Pete signs Title and only fills out the seller info.
    2. Two bills of sale are made
    a. bill of sale between Pete and whomever is going to own the car in the end.
    b. bill of sale to me
    3. I take the title and bill of sale to the owner and put it in a safe place
    4. I take the car and bill of sale to me and go get a VIN verification form and register the car to me in NH - no insurance required.
    5. We drive the car wherever.

I can sign the registration over if need be or you can toss it and register the car with the title and "real" bill of sale.

Or keep it with NH reg. no Insurance required and then you can drive it on my plates and tweak it on the streets... No trailers required.

lol who am i buying the door cards from then?

i like the jersey idea more , 12 hours in that e30 doesn't sound very fun lol, 6-8 is fine especially if we leave at night so no nyc traffic, and ill be very careful. howard you have a V1 right?
im young and stupid, im fine with risks

where are you gonna store the car? if its a day or 2 i can keep it in my driveway and park my car in a condo parking lot down the street

if not i have a mbta card and take the train to the nh border, or boston where ever the car is

I'm with Jim. I in no way want to put anyone out by driving this car. Howard I understand the NH laws are quite lax, but being an insurance guy I don't like the idea of the car being driven with out at least liability coverage. I can add it to my policy temporarily if need be just need the vin.

Penpen no one is asking you to drive the car half way to NC. You guys just worry about getting it to kish. Then we will try and find more relay team or I will just come get it. Maybe plan it to all show up at the same time and have kish supply the beer!!

just get the car here. i think bill of sale, signed title and some form of liability ins should be fine. i'll see if i can arrange for a relay from here to at least nova but if not, greg can pickup from my place. btw jim, mason dixon line is way north of you i will supply plenty of beer

I'll round with Pete about getting the car....

Going to do a once over on it and adjust the throtte body.

Target drive next friday - 8th.

    Leave after work sometime...

I'll get it registered in NH - at least with a 20 day temp tag.

As far as insurance goes... Car will not have insurance and will be registered in my name (if someone tries to sure me they can have my -300,000 in assets!).

As far as the driver is concerned - if I drive it then my personal liability policy will cover me - as would everyone else's... Greg, please correct me if I'm wrong...

Let's look at this as steps:

Step 1 - get car and paperwork from Pete to Howard
Step 2 - get some sort of plate on the car
Step 3 - mild tune up to drive to NJ
Step 4 - Drive to NJ
Step 5 - evaluate how to get to NC...

For steps 1-4 don't trouble yourselves... We'll get it taken care of.. I'm going to take this off the thread right now and to PM from here on out for the individuals I need to work with to get it to Kish.

This should be a walk in the park compared to my Alpinas, the iX, and of course the Touring...

Howard unless you are talking about a personal auto liability policy no. A reg. personal liability policy excludes anything auto. It needs Insurance!!

I'm talking auto liability. I know my Allstate policy covers me for liability on any car I drive.

I guess I don't see why your creation of the team and registering the car would get up "black balled". But maybe you know something that I don't?

I would not have any qualms about creating the entry.

I was kidding Jim. They make you write a witty why should we let your team race comment down at the bottom. Over use of the word awesome or dudes will likely not go over well.

Hey Howard, I just had a thought, when I take my plates off on saturday, how are you driving from here to NH? You have a temp plate? And Jim, should I sign the car over to Howard?
