Thumbs up For you guys always asking if V1 is worth it ... here

    http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=8500

    Short synopsis --

Manufacturer and Model Rear Detection Range (feet)
    BEL 980 6,072
    Cobra XR-1010 1,321
    Escort Passport 8500 4,308
    Valentine One 8,976

As you can tell, V1 has almost twice the range which equals almost 1.5 miles from behind the V1 picked the police cruiser coming vs. 3/4 of a mile for the passport 8500.

Radartest.com is VERY biased against V1 for some reason, look at what they say about V1's directional arrows:

Truth is, radar to the side poses no threat at all and radar from behind is scarcely worthy of more attention.
I can tell you, this is complete B.S. -- b/c they have never driven on highways where the police cars are merging ... giving you a side arrow.

Plus, for me, I can immediately tell if it is a false signal or not, b/c if I am driving in a neighborhood and get a sideway signal ... I know it's from a store, etc.

Then it says this about the passport 8500 ....

It ferreted out the lethal digital Ka-band radar gun at 40,222 feet, a virtual tie with the BEL 980 but fully 3.2 miles before the Valentine One.
I find this REALLY REALLY hard to believe, 40,222 feet it picked up the radar signal??? 3.2 miles BEFORE the V1, which translates into a approximately a 16,000 foot advantage. What does this mean? Notice how they SLANT the favoritism toward Escort ...

But, look at this, 40,222 feet = 7.5 miles approximately. The V1, EVEN ASSUMING that it did NOT have the range of the Escort which I think it does, 40,222-16,000 feet (e.g., 3.2 miles) = 24,222 feet.

This means, the V1's range is approximately 5.2 miles rather than 7.5 miles. Which, no offense, but .... if my V1 can pick up 5.2 miles ahead, I'm ecstatic. Plus, it's OBVIOUS that the V1 has BETTER rear-view protection, herego, even if you do not need it that much ... you would still want it.

Plus, the directional arrows are VERY functional. The whole argument that they do not want falses from the sides .... what b.s., the escort would false as well; but, not give you any idea of the direction ...

This is why I say that radartest is horrible ... they slant things ... why give something in FEET and then say oh, this outperforms V1 by 3.2 miles ... which sounds ALOT ... at first glance; but, when you break it down .... NO ONE is going to drive 5.2 miles ... and go, man, there's a cop ahead ...

After the first 2 miles, most of us would be like it's false ... hence, the reason the directional arrows are so vital ... it tells us that it is still ahead. With the passport, you have to guess it might be a radio tower, etc...

P.S. -- the reason I am ranting is that I wonder how accurate their testing is. I was looking at this:

Notice again, how ESCORT and BEL did the best. But, if you remember, MANY M5 owners, porsche, Corvette, are using the Lidatek LE-20 with no problems ...

I believe alot of replys are coming real soon.... espeically the ones that paid 400dollars for their radar. I am sure they work sometimes, tho.

Mine has definitely saved my ass...
But you have to use your head and not become totally dependent on it. That's where people lose.

The V1 is an amazing machine. I will be purchasing mine in about 2-3 weeks. I need it before I go back to school.

Radartest.com is funded by Escort. If you want a credible test source look at Car and Driver's test-the V1 came in first.

Were there not 3 or 4 other mags that gave the 8500 thumbs up?
Surely they aren't all funded by Escort?

C&D is the only one I've heard of that said the V-1 was the best.

In 2017 the V1 is not worth it.
You have so much more option for the same price or cheaper:
    1. Escort Max360
    2. Escort iX
Check them out. Also, check out this article on radar detectors for 2017 for more info on that matter.
