    Power Steering Pump Mod-SLS Delete

Ok guys, my rear actuators are leaking and im sick of smelling the fluid in my garage so i decided to remove the system completely from my car, since it was just plugged off for the past two years after putting my Koni's in. After talking briefly with Sebring nl i have taken apart my power steering pump and im going to modify it to get rid of the pressure to the rear. Here are the pics.

This is the port that sends the pressure to the rear

It is pressurized by these two pistons turned on an eccentric shaft

I will be making up a tool to take out the pistons that are there by machining an X piece to fit in the pattern on top of the pistons.

That way i wont have to machine the eccentric shaft down. I can just plug the pistons holes and the port with bolts and washers and they wont pressurize. Anyone who has done this before or has any other ideas come forward so we can make up a DIY for those who want to do this.

I should find out how feasible it is once i can unscrew the pistons from the pump. I just hope they arent pressed in , but i couldnt imagine BMW pressing them in since they could be serviceable if you have the right tool to unscrew them. Im hoping i can just take the pistons out, remove the springs and pistons from the assembly, and just use the X caps as plugs and plug off the pressure out port and call it done. I will post up pictures later once i get my tool made up to attempt to remove the X caps.

Interesting. Wouldn't it have been easier to just swap in a non SLS pump?

No you cant do that on the M5. Ive researched this on M5Board for a while. They have tried swapping in an M30 power steering unit, but it dosent bolt up.

    blah , blah blah
Just remove 13,14 and 15 and then put the plug back in. They come right out with virtually no effort.

What does the P/S pump run in the rear of M5's?

Alright guys after my nifty little tool failed me (the plugs wouldnt turn at all, i ended up dropping a cutter down and milling out the center till the piston spring broke thru then hammered down an extractor made from a 5/8 bolt and then she gave up and came out) I will be using my tool to put in the new plugs since they will need the X shape to tighten them down. Pictures of the aftermath.

So now the pistons are out and i can just plug the holes and put it back together. That and rip out all my rear SLS crap lol.
