    Leaking windshield washer reservoir

I'm in need of some advice as to the replacement of the leaking windshield washer reservoir in my 99 740i. It simply looses it's contents out onto the ground. Not sure why this happened but, it has. If you've ever performed this task and or purchased this part, I'd appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks

Don't know anyone who's changed it out, but it looks really simple..Theres a pump, a hose, and the reservoir. I'd remove the reservoir and make sure you need it, not the pump or hose...all 3 pieces are pretty inexpensive though

I have the same issue. I'm thinking about replacing the whole thing, lines, reservoir, etc. Let me know how yours goes or if you find out anything worth repeating.

Mine is leaking too... i have a crack half way up, so at least i can still use it if I don't fill it. When it gets warmer I'm going to try and apoxy the crack, since it's not under pressure it should hold together fine.

I had the same problem and just epoxied the crack it leaked from. It sealed it perfect and haven't had a problem since. That was much easier and cheaper than trying to replace it.

The sound is possibly your windshield washer pump functioning but no liquid can be squirted out. Pump is probably OK, but you have a blocked line (or maybe an empty reservoir!).

Take a look at http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/182119 and see if a supply pipe has come loose or is blocked by blowing through the pipes if you can.

OK - maybe a little more complicated.

Are your windshield washer jets blocked? Gently probing with a fine wire (not a safety pin) will tell you.

Do your headlight washer jets work? They should function every 5th windshield wash/wipe. If they do and your windshield jets are clear, you may have two washer pumps and the one for the windshield is either broken or the supply pipes are blocked.
