I'm getting the aluminum thermostat housing, should I just go ahead and get the thermostat changed as well? Thanks
Absolutely! It's always a good idea to replace the parts inside. It may save you time and money later.

I totally agree with bungy....better to replace a relatively inexpensive part like that while you are at it.

BMW HOWTOs
Without a doubt. I got mine from bimmerparts.com. Great prices. Will be doing it hopefully next weekend along with the plastic motherF#$%ing waterpump. Where are you getting yours from ?
Sorry, had to vent. You would think for a car such as a BMW they would have thought of the shortcomings of using plastic crap for a water pump. Basically the entire cooling system on our cars are a driving failure waiting to happen.
hey CKS, i'm also getting everything from zygmunt also along with the metal waterpump. How much do you think labor would run for both jobs?
Dealer quoted me 3 hours for the water pump, thermostat and radiator hoses for my car. I plan on doing it myself though. I will save about $250. Uberjeph has a great write up about the whole procedure with pictures and all. I will be doing it with a buddy of mine on labor day weekend. Check out the link at:

under tech procedures. It does not seem very hard. I would certainly give it a shot before I took into the dealer. I know quite a few people on this board and others who have tried it themselves and were surprised at how easy it is. I will know though in about a week.
DIY!....."you can do et!"
Are you going to get the 88 degree or 92 degree thermostat??
