OK, I win for the dumbest Z3 question

You guys here that know me know I'm the least knowledgeable Z owner on the board. Tonight I sink to a new low. When I bought my car last September it was missing the antenna grommet so I finally got around to ordering one. Today it arrives and one side has a small opening and the other a larger one. I installed it with the small side up but then realized the small S2000 antenna does not fit. Is this antenna too large at the base or did I install the wrong side up? Since I've never seen this grommet I took a guess on how it goes but may have done it incorrectly and now it will not come off so I can try the other end. Just curious if it's the antenna or grommet before I go further.

I am guessing you have it up side down. Did you install it from the top or inside?

Generally aftermarket antennas will come with a few different screw sizes to fit standard antenna bases. If yours did not, the easiest will be just finding a product that fits with or with out the size adapter.

This might help. Once you install the grommet you'll have to push the antenna wire up into the grommet so that you can screw in the antenna.

OK, I chose poorly. I installed from the top, just pushed really hard until it popped into place.

The one on the right is how it looks from the top.

You have it in right then. Try pushing the wire up into the grommet from underneath so that the antenna will be able to reach the threads.

Not this time, that's already been asked many times.

    I wouldn't say that - I think I got you beat

I didn't know anything about Zs until I bought mine about 6 weeks ago. And I still don't know what all these models these more knowledgeable members keep throwing out here - like S52, S54, etc.

S52 and S54 are engines in M coupes and M roadsters. There. Now you're "more knowledgeable" too <smiley> (it won't let me use smilies :P)
