I should have kept my mouth shut... it spit up a fuel pump [i think] today.. got it up at Butter's shop.. hope to have it back at latest Wednesday if we can't source a pump tomorrow [later today]... hope to come back and post the 400k for this one too.. then I don't care if Yellowstone erupts.
pic related was from 2011
I have under 800 miles to go to break 400,000 on this 540/6. Obtained it July-2018 with ~228,000 will post a pic sometime possibly this week if I catch it
Wow. That works out to about 5200 miles a month, ~62,500 a year. Well, I've always said these cars are meant to be driven; kudos on you for using it as intended. You mentioned courier jobs previously? I'd love to get paid to spend that kind of time with my E34 and write off maintenance and upgrades as business expenses.Originally Posted by jehu
283k on my 525iT, and the M50TU was sufficiently worn out that it got replaced by an M52. One cylinder had low compression, VANOS rattled and probably caused idle surging, and it was burning a little to a lot of oil depending on what I used. The insides were medium-bad as far as cleanliness. Oilpump lobes slightly worn. The transmission had been replaced before I got it, and I can only guess at its mileage. The diff was probably original and doing fine, got replaced a year ago during the manual swap. The CV joints looked and felt a bit tired, since replaced by 540iM axles with unknown miles.
My previous 544iT seems to be doing well in its new (as of 2018) owner's hands, pushing 290-some-k on the body, 240ish on the engine and trans, unknown on the S3.15 in the back.
My original 1990 525i had 253,315 miles when it was totaled in a rear end accident. I replaced it with a 1990 525i with 54515 miles in 2018.

If memory serves, that is the third E34 540iM you drove to 400k. Is that right?
partly.. one had an engine fail at just under 300,000 maybe a valve bent and I replaced that with another but that was totaled after two months hit from behind at a stop so I put everything from that wreck into the first 540 and drove that to over 400k after swapping in the cluster from the wreck that had around 170k when totaled. The Third separate VIN I bought with 150k and drove that to just under 400 when it was totaled.. I recently found a COPART clone site POCTRA listing of it with the ODO at 375,287.. I had just the night before replaced the AC Condenser , Aux Fan and CCV cover.. thing was running beautifully.

1995 525i Automatic. I currently have 241,700 miles on teh car. I have owned it since 2003
E34, 1991, 535i
211000 miles.
Had been sat for 6 months when I bought it, rough idle..
replaced diz cap and rotor, new set of MGK plugs, and it runs perfectly. I see easy 300k coming from it! No worries.
same here, I'm at 170k miles on my 89' 530i m30b30, unfurtunately not a b35 Still don't think it is that slow though, considering it is my first car and euro standarts

204,000miles on my 92 M5. Head gasket and top end refresh done about 5 years ago by the PO. Runs strong. No leaks no smoke. The high pressure PS hose popped and was replaced. All that it needs is real leather upholstery

927,000 kilometers on 525i m20b25 Regular repairs. Head gasket done 8 years ago. Still used the car for long road trips and mountains trips. We own the car in the family since 1996. Transmission and diff are 100% original
