Highest mileage E34 on the road, on the forum

I've seen/heard some pretty amazing numbers of the mileage a stock/original E34 can do if well cared for. I've seen some of the posts on the forums about mileage in excess of 300K.

If you're over 200K miles and still driving the car daily, post here and let us know. Let us know what major drivetrain components are original and which are not, and any longevity tips.

stock M20 slushie. 257,820. Driven daily. Valves and rocker arms were replaced when the timing belt broke at 231k. Other than that the muffler, alternator, cooling bits have been replaced.

This is the highest I'm familiar with.
A quarter mil. is pretty common, esp. with M30 engines. I recently read of another one well into the 300s that was lost to a crash

I'm at 200k. I've only done maintenance so far but I've only had the car about six months. The car is still runnning strong.... my main concern right now is getting the heater to work again. Its kinda chilly here.

I recently sold my '89 535i 5 speed with about 245k on the clock. Motor was never opened. I also have an '86 535i track car with around 260k on the clock. It became a dedicated track car around 210k so that's 50k on track. I'm in the midst of a rebuild but only to upgrade to piano top pistons and to install a worked head. My Touring (for sale) had just shy of 200k on the M50 when I opted to swap in the S52. It now has 204k.

All of these are babies though. There are many M30 powered E28s and E34s with well over 300k rolling around.

218k stock slushbox trans. Motor was replaced due to nikasil. heater core has gone, ac required costly repairs, but besides that all the money i've put into the car has been cosmetic.

206,000 here original nikasil block, slushbox rebuild around 110K.

Over 200k miles, will get exact number later. I'm pretty sure that the engine and transmission are orignal. Engine runs smooth and trans shifts fine.
Bonus: 28.5 MPG HWY on last two trips

I put on 10 of these miles :P

Cannot say I daily it yet, because I am still fixing it to be safe, but it was dailyed before. I redid the head, a lot of the body, cooling system, belts, lighting, etc. Car should be dailyed later this month. She still has a lot of work coming, espicially with this dirty ass bay

BMWs are measured in alternators. Sort of like rings on a tree.

pmac2007iq00 has just posted 388k on his M30 and I plan to check out his car sometime soon since I found out that we live only a few miles apart. I had 320k on a e21 w/ M10.

540i/6 190K new motor at 75k or something under warranty due to nikasil. No other major repairs in the 10+ years of rcpts, just routine crap, cooling, suspension, mounts, brakes, etc...

Sure did, 100% my fault. Ill put up a new thread with all the details when I get the car put back together. Going to be working on it again Saturday and hopefully getting it all finished up. The engine is in and mounted, just have to connect everything and whatnot.

Danged. I wanna hear about this.

Mine just hit 225k yesterday. I have a funny feeling that this engine won't see 250k, at least not without being rebuilt. It's running a bit rough lately.

388,1xx and going strong. did a head gasket a while back not long after owning it, some cooling pieces here and there, no problems since. as far as i know engine internals are all original. i cant think of any reason she'll break on me in the near future at all. at this rate the car will outlive me haha.
