    Post-Rebuild Twin Screw Dyno

RRT just finished rebuild of my twin screw S52. Stayed with stock compression, but went with CP pistons, RMS headers (SwainTech coated), ARP 2000 studs w/stock Elring headgasket, upgraded oil pump, and improved cooling system. Still using "stock" OBDII tuning that Jim Conforti provided for Eurosport's kits.

Motor was broken-in last week on a DynoDynamics 450 Eddie Loading dyno at Function:TUNED, a tuning shop around the corner from RRT in Dulles, VA. DynoDynamics read consistently lower than Mustang dynos and, according to some reports, approx. 14%-16% lower than Dynojets.

Rebuilt motor -- which should get stronger as it loosens up -- showed 348 rwhp and 310 ft-lbs. Didn't get chart from the shop, but will post one when I get car on a Dynojet early next month.

    I'm very pleased!

I'm using the stock pulley that Eurosport provided. IIRC, I was somewhere around 9.5 psi. I'm sure that I now have less boost because of the headers.

Just got the car back last night and haven't had a chance to re-set/re-calibrate the boost gauge. I'll report back once I've done so.

What caused you to do the engine re-build, too many track hours? I know your's didn't ingest a supercharger like mine did.

    Jim -

After 117,000 miles -- an awful lot of which were on track -- motor was tired, as revealed by leakdown test.

Not quite, got boosted at 48,000 miles. So ONLY 69,000 MILES with the twin screw (and no regrets!)

...not to mention a LOT of those miles were HPDE's too. And not at some snail's pace around various road courses either. That's a great testament to wise component selection by a smart owner.

Yeah, that's one thing about this Eurosport TS - bulletproof reliability. I think he had the input bearing unit replaced with an updated unit from Eurosport about 2 years ago, but otherwise the system has been nothing but amazing.

True on both counts. Wouldn't have had to replace the bearings had I kept the gearcase properly filled with oil!

Very nice Neil! It's a shame that nobody makes these kits anymore.

With exception of stuff I listed in first post, a pretty stock rebuild. The CP Pistons were first overbore (+.025"??), otherwise nothing special.

And yes, the headers are very nice (thanks Marco)!

no..but I did practically pull them out my butt...
Hard to find these headers new anywhere....

I will have them available soon, the jig is being made...
And I am having my guy make a jig for my own version of an AA front half track pipe to mate up to them...2.25 pipe up to the headers..prefit for the headers, and a TRUE 3 inch collector( not a smaller tapered collector)..to join to the rear half trackpipe, or aA race exhaust, or whatever you want to bolt up to it...

good stuff! my rebuild should be done by july, hopefully earlier.

If your M3 doesn’t have 3 pedals and 2 doors, I would really consider contacting BMW to confirm the authenticity of your incorrectly badged mid-sized family sedan.

    Neil,

Did you keep the oil level sight glass thing? The oil seperator I added has captured not a single drop of oil.
