i cant see the pictures!!!!!!!!
Umm... the pics are working???
F*ck, Comcast isn't loading a single picture
looks good.. hopfully you lay down some really good numbers 700 plus to the wheels
Sickness man. I don't like the slop overspray on the paintjob, but meh, at least it can't be seen. Sick manifold, big turbo, this should be a good build!!
Main pics reloaded... They should stay up this time... We also did a sunroof delete, so it should shave off even a few more pounds ,
although the full stock interior and trim (minus the rear seats) will get put back in... We'll do a final weigh in when it's all finished up... Should be under 3000lbs...
Thats the HPF manifold. It says they made one for the e36 on their site.
How much was it if you dont mind me asking?
It is NOT the HPF manifold. It is the SteedSpeed manifold, who happen to have engineered and produce the manifold for HPF. I thought I heard the $1200 price tag being thrown around in the last thread about SteedSpeed manifolds. Their other 6cyl manifold looks easier to machine, and is $975, and prolly more widely produced. http://steedspeed.com/turbo_manifolds
Well I know HPF didnt make it. I also know that the m5X and s54 have different style exhaust studs, but it is in fact a very similar manifold that HPF is using.
Thanks for the pricing info though.
HPF said they did at one point about a year and a half ago or so. My understanding from the pics over on SteedSpeeds site is that the head-flange section is different from M5X and S54, but the other 2 sections are the same. Pretty sweet design, it really makes it hard to justify a 666 manifold in my opinion... This manifold also won't have creep issues.
Yeah now that I saw that I want to buy that over building my own turbo manifold.
I'd love it if it could be flipped to be a top-mount... Maybe make a flange somehow.
Yes. It's a 3 piece design, with the flange that connects to the e36 block being the only difference from the S54's. It also comes ceramic coated, and is comparable to a cast manifold with more durability than a tubular manifold which could eventually crack. Fitment for the GT4094R was also near perfect... Tight fit, but it clears everything, including the turbo motor mount with ease. Really pleased so far with the fitment Should more than handle all the power the 4094R can throw at it
A GT40 looks like as much turbo as will fit on a bottom mount setup
I like that manifold - where did you get it, from steedspeed directly?
Wow I see the pictures and I love them!
HPF-style exhaust manifold? YES!
Yeah the s54 has a triangular bolt pattern and the outlets on the flange are circles. The m5X based motors have a rectangular bolt pattern and the outlets on the flange are oval.
For bottom mount I wouldn't go with any other exhaust manifold unless you can't afford this one! No bosot crreep if you locate the wastegate far enough away from the turbo and route it back in much further down the DP!
SICK!
Oh and Jon...ICS fit a pt76gts with 0.96 a/r hot side down below. I know that the s54 is different but I imagine the block is at the same angle and underneath there it's pretty close to the same where the turbo sits. HPF can fit a pt76gts with 0.96 a/r hot side so maybe there is more room than the picture shows.
Wow, glad to see this project making headway. Is the car at CES's shop? I may make a trip to south-town to check her out. John said my motor is just about done so maybe when I pick it up. That manifold is sick. I remember him saying he was changing the stage 3 kit to that. CES is basically HPF for E36's. Very nice high quality kits.
P.S. we need to get all the turbo m3's in charlotte together once your car and mine is done.
they are part of the CES stage 3 kits.

Wow...I am LOVING this GT40 build. Cannot wait to see more progress pics already.
This thing is going to be an absolute animal.
I mean it depends on the manifold, but what I mean was that the GT40 size compressor howing looks to be about as big as you can go w/ that manifold. I personally wouldn't want to go any bigger look how close it is to everything!
I'm using the same manifold, but with a slightly bigger turbo I talked to John @ CES quite sometime ago and directed him to steed speed for this manifold... Glad to see they aquired one and have things underway!
