Quick update, thank you to everyone that offered to help! I found a great car and am willing to pull the trigger however their is a lot of noise coming from the transfer case. Is there anyone in the area that has replaced the chain before on a 2001 e53? OR know of any shops with great rates and turnaround time?
Try A&L autobody in Palatine.

Hi all,
I'm looking for a great, independent shop with good experience with E36 and E36/8 cars (S52 motors, etc.). I'm located in the Lakeview neighborhood, so the closer, the better. Also, the sooner the better. I have a bent differential tab that needs to be straightened out... Or, if you have a lift and a 2lb sledgehammer I can borrow, that would work too. ;-)
BTW - I just moved here from the DC area and I'm excited to be here!

hey man, how's it goin? I'm in the west loop and just a few blocks away is a shop called rn Bavarian motors. all they work on are bmws, that's it. if you check it out, tell them alain Milotti sent you. won't do anything for you, but at least they know where the love is coming from. do a google search and you'll find em.
I found WizardWerks and have been very happy with their service so far. Straightforward, upfront and cool to work with. They took care of my custom diff tabs (I have a custom dual-ear diff) and are currently replacing my clutch. Thanks for the reply though!

I found this while perusing autotrader for a 3 series touring with msnual trans:
m.autotrader.com/vdp.html?id=322869901
It's a 2000 323 Touring with an M3 conversion; drivetrain, suspension, and a front bumper cover. The dealer is clueless. Anyone here know anything about it?
Thanks - Colin
Yep, that's it. I wonder how they plan to sell it without any records on it?
That VW dealer is less than 10 minutes away, I'm going to go test drive it this weekend
Does anyone know of a BMW specialty shop in the south suburbs?
Hey folks. Anyone familiar with a decent exhaust shop near Oak Park? My entire exhaust broke off just before the cat so I need someone to weld up a new section to a new muffler. Unless you're good at exhaust pipe-bending and welding and enjoy getting paid in beer for work done, of course.
Just find a Valsquez and sons, they do good work on the cheap.

Anthony the owner of iND sent me there for mine so I figured it would be fine.
Lil help!
I turned my DTC off the other day and when i got to my destination shut the car off... Do my thing and go back to my car, started it up an the DTC was still on, then it gave me a warning light ( DTC off light with a ! Right next to it) the another warning light hand brake applied (in yellow, with the ! In the center) then, on the way back home i noticed the turn signals didn't shut off automatically after i come out of the turn. Then after a while everything was back to normal... No more warning lights.
But then it happened again and now they staid on.
Any ideas?
yeah i personally dont think it had to do with the DTC being turned off, BMW uses that symbol for a lot of stuff. Check the manual for which warning that was just in case.
I read somewhere that has to do with the brake sensor being worn. But What does that had to do with my turn signals tho?
Anyone up for a Lous meat?
which location?
