I just dropped my car off at the dealer and to my shock they are telling me the maintenance for my car only covers up to 36000 miles!
And the inspection II at 40K will have to be paid for out of my own pocket. I argued with the service advisors after pointing out the sticker on the new M3s on the lot stating 50K coverage. He said this didn't apply to 2001-2002 model M3s.
Is there any truth to what they are telling me? I could have sworn I was set until 50K!
Why would they cover 2003 models up to 50K but 2001 and 2002 only to 36K?

The full maintenance of 4yr/50k miles became standard on 2003 models. In 2002 it was only an option and you would have to pay extra to get the full maintenance which means you only had the regular scheduled maintenance service.
I believe that if you're still within the scheduled maintenance program, you can pay extra for to get the full maintenance program.
So yes they are telling you the truth.
yup... Jon has it right on the money.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
I guess I never paid attenton to the warranty that closely, I'm at 40K mileage now so I'll have to bite the bullet and pay for inspection II out of my pocket.
To make things even more confusing my engine was replaced at 19K so the engine really only has 21K miles on it yet its asking for inspection II as if the engine was never replaced.

I also found out that I only had coverage till 3/36000. They offered to extend to 4/50k for $800.
It would include a brake job somewhere along the line so I went ahead and did it.
Sorry to hear it Brian.
What happened with that tire?
