I found it easier to fit the M20 that already came with the 90amp alternator.
This is an AC Delco CS130 105A alternator on my M30. They are cheap, readily available and basically bolt right on.
I did swap the pulley, and I had to buy a different belt. I got this particular alternator from Pick-n-Pull for $22. There are a lot of almost new repair parts on these cars, folks get them going then they can't pass smog and they are junked. I swapped pulleys right in the yard, using one from an older car, and got the pigtail for the regulator as well.
nicee! any pne have one for sale
?
got a 90 amp off a 325, no grinding or fabricating, just a different size belt and a little adjusting and it worked fine.
I picked up a rebuilt 90 amp alternator on ebay from bnrparts for around $120
I bought a 90 Amp alternator from a shop in New Jersey. Direct bolt in,
bnr parts has 80 and 90 amp alternators for e21 320i 80-83, direct bolt in.
Your engine is beautiful O.o
Way to bump an old ass thread
fifn't notice how old the thread was when I replied to it lol sorry
I've found the voltage regulator with brushes from Pelican, but does anybody know where to get the bearings? They're not worn down completely, but it only seems right to replace them at the same time as I complete my upgrade to 80amps.
Also, how in the world do you get the bearing off? With a puller?

Did the same just last week. Also got a muffler in mint condition. Love me some half off today.
