This only works if you have something with a built in amplifier. If not you can use a high to low like I did.

The who? I am not aware of such technology. Where would it go in my equation?

Its the box that everyone uses when they hack into the existing sub wires... Its a little box that allows you to use the RCA audio mess.

The wires are soldered onto the speaker contacts. So you'd have to cut them and then crimp on spade connectors.

they hi/lo converter just allows you to run rca cables to a an amp/ subwoofer setup...you still hit the wires that mojo hit, but you'll have an rca connection there now...really easy to hook-up....you can do a clean amp install in no time at all without having to run wires to your head unit.

here are some examples of converters:

Sweet, so I can just do the same thing Mojo did but connect my hi/lo instead of the amp directly?

Doph what ever happened with your subs?

yes....no cutting is needed either, just use some fold over connectors and you're good to go...no need to trash the factory harness.

Nice, I did my e32 kinda like this, Except I used the Power off of the CD changer to power my amp, and grounded to the bolt that holds the cd changer to the trunk. ran cables as you did. And isn't It cool how the trim around the center console is almost designed to have amp cable run under it?

Super delicious. Your car is coming along nicely. May I suggest, just a suggestion mind you, that next time you have that faded purple rear deck cover off, you grab a $6.99 can of black fabric spray paint (flat black) at the parts store and shoot a couple of coats on it. You will be uber amazed at how different it looks. Just make sure it's good and dry before you have blond chicks in the back seat banging their heads to the beat.

Just to let you guys know, this works on possessed cars such as mine as well... a bit of modification is needed though.

If my amp will accept wired lines in then do I need the hi-low box? Does it do anything other than convert the line to an RCA cable? Also Mojo mentions using the preamp lines is there a write-up on how to do this? Is it safer (on factory amp) / better than this way?

Honestly, the only reason you'd want to use the preamp lines is if you are running ALL of your speakers off an aftermarket amp. If you are only running subs, the factory subwoofer channel is just fine.
