That's what I figured. Thanks for the clarification.

Although I think the 7.3-liter one can actually store more fluid than that. When I drain about 7 quarts from mine, it still looks like there is space for about 2 more.

    Keith,

I'm surprised you noticed that. I can't get the plastic lock clip inserts into their respective slots. I don't think it is leaking, but that's the best I could do. The other side was a little easier for some reason.

Good stuff -- may have to buy one of those. Thanks for posting the DIY.

I have the 7400 model for my boats, I'll just evac about half the oil, then pour it into the container I use to transport to the collection facility, then evac the rest. No need to waste money on the larger one if you already have the smaller one.

One thing I would do differently now...
Attach the filter to the filter housing cap first instead of inserting it into the housing.

    Yup. Absolutely recommend doing that!

By the way, I have now killed two oil extractors (Mityvac 7400 and Pela 14K) in a relatively short amount of time. The internal seals have failed because I left the oil in the extractor for a while instead of dumping it right away. So, if your extractor has a pump on the inside, NEVER store oil in it long term. Alternatively, buy an extractor that has the pump on the outside, like Mityvac 7201.

    Hi James.
Old post but where did you get the Evac and how much did you pay for it? Thanks

Since this got woken up, found another use. Don't use mine for oil anymore, do that on lift at CCA DIY events. But the extractor is also good for other fluids changes, like PS fluid. 300k - I got mine at BavAuto.
