    750iL brake upgrade

    AKA Dinan Stage 2 upgrade.

    http://www.dinancars.com/store/produ...3&cat=0&page=1

    Stage 2 Brake Conversion
    Front and Rear
Dinan offers larger front and rear brakes for improved stopping power and reduction of rotor warpage. The front rotors are increased from the stock 324 x 30 mm to 334 x 32 mm and the rears are increased from 324 x 12mm to 328 x 20mm. The conversion retains the factory brake sensors and does not affect ABS operation. Also uses dual piston front calipers.

    NICE upgrade!
Why didn't you get the stock protection brakes?
They are even bigger and thicker then Dinan

Have a technical question, don't send me a PM but post it on the board so others can benefit from it!

Keep in mind these are 20" rims

After the brake upgrade you have to have 18" wheel minimum.
    Smaller rims wont fit

    Before

    New brackets look how thick

Are those OEM, and if so what did they come on? Did you just replace the carriers/rotors and not the whole calipers?

    Yes they are OEM BMW
They came on a Alpina B12 or an E38 protection
Yep just the rooters and carriers.
    Calipers can stay the same

Next week, when I swap the driver knuckle, my is bent. But I love the size of those rotors. Now that is what all BMW 7 series need.

How did you get the parts, did you take them off a crash one or you order the parts.

    I like that upgrade.

I found mine on Ebay, you'll first need to upgrade to the 750 calipers.

Edwin, can the rotors and carriers be found on realoem.com? Just looking for cost and part #'s.

Wow, $1k for a brake upgrade, that beat the Brembo price. Plus the OEM.
Put that on my to do list.

If I can find one a U PULL IT salvage yard that would be perfect.

actually they are the same thickness, but quite a bit bigger.

    334 x 32 mm 750il
    348 x 32 mm Protection Package

I guess when these front rotors and pads wear out Ill be doing this upgrade, the 750 upgrade package stops well enough for me now but Im sure after 15k miles Ill be ready for another upgrade.

    Thanks for the info dude.

    Hi Edwin,
just to verify, for the protection upgrade you basically keep all the 750 brake stuff (mostly hoses and calipers) and only need to change the bracket and rotors? So the calipers are exactly the same as the regular 750 calipers?

    Thanks!

sorry to bump an old thread, but will 16" style 5s fit over the 335mm brakes? I know some 750ils came stock with 16" wheels so I was just curious.

Wow those are suprisingly larger...I'll need rear brakes in a few weeks, so I'm still throwing this idea and a BBK around as optional upgrades

i'm also curious. I have the oem 740 basketweaves but if I do brakes this spring, I'd just get the 750 stuff put on...but will it fit?

regular 750 setup will work with 16's.

the protection model setup would require 18's minimum
