    How to prevent miss shift?

I blew my old 3.0 motor couple months ago, and I don't want that happen again, should I get UUC tranny mounts and enforcers to prevent miss shift. What does tranny mounts and enforcers do?
Ne1 have experience with these 2 mods?

They will help but you still need to learn some proper shifting techniques.

Too bad I can't formulate a mental picture of it in words for you.

    Oh well.

The rear tranny mounts support the transmission and the rear of the motor. They keep the motor/tranny from flexing or twisting under load/deload. The shift lever is mounted in an aluminum piece that cannects to the transmission at the front and the floor pan at the rear. If the motor/tranny twsit under load, you can see that causes a problem for the shift linkage. The UUC Enforcers are aluminum hats that fit tightly over the larger 320i tranny mounts causing them to be less flexible while still offering some "cush". I just installed them along with a new clutch and Ron Stygar SS kit. They're rock solid. I'm glad I did it. Jay

Yeah. What he said. But you still have to learn the 3 secrets of shifting.

And that's from the co-developer of the JTD Tranny Brace. ME!

Secrets of shifting (typed slowly so I don't slur my fingers)

    1. Always hold the shifter like an egg with your finger tips.

    2. Shift backhanded with your thumb pointing DOWN.

    3. Always pause a half beat in the neutral position

Do these things and you will never bend your little valve thingies again.

The end. (of that 6 pack)

Man you good at shifting! I'm thinking to get the JTD tranny brace but they are like $300, not now

I don't price 'em, I just help develop 'em.

And it cost me ~$2500 to learn those lessons, myself. All 12 exhaust valves bent or tweaked on a '95 325i. But I beat the Mudthang GT So I guess it was worth it.

I've been waiting for more than 2 months for my tranny mounts, enforcers and a clutch stop from UUC. So if you get it from them, you'd better be patient.

A good diagram of how to shift is here...

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

Whenever you are going into the wrong gear, either you will feel resistance, or it will be too easy...3r to 5th.

When I feel like I am not sure, I return the shifter to neutral, knowing that it is automatically aligned with 3rd/4th, then I select the gear I want, and match revs again. You may lose a race, but your saving your baby!

The tips above are great! Use em.
Articulate your motions the same way you do your words, and you will eventually get the feel.

I hear some people pulling shifter knobs off their cars while driving.. Man I use a womans touch with mine... That would never happen unless I am trying to jam things around...
