    Are the HVAC controls lit?

Strange question, but I notice that the 3 knobs (Vent position, Temp, Fan) on my car don't have any kind of light at night.

    Is this normal?

Good timing. After replacing mine last night, I just got done updating this topic on the other forum...

Note that while not shown, the head unit has to be removed first, so be sure to have the security code if it's the factory unit. The CD head unit requires a 2.5mm Allen wrench to remove, the cassette player takes a special five (5) sided tool available from the dealer.

    Thanks Randy,

I am getting ready to put a new stereo unit in probably this week, so I'm glad I asked.

Wierd that both lights would fail.

Standard bulbs from auto parts store I hope?

    As always, great instructions.

correct. AC switch lights up only when pressed. I wish it was lit up by default and then lit up brighter when pressed - same as heated seats switches do.

    Cool

On my 96 z3 there was also two screws (one on each side) holding the HVAC controls in. Bought my bulbsat the dealer, cost $6.52 each
