I learned a few things. Thanks for the write up.

Do you have to take the key to the dealership for auto lock reprogramming?

Actually, I didn't write it, the content came from U.K. E39ers.

Now what I believe #14 is, The headlights are set for driving on the left side of the road in the U.K. When they take their cars to say, France, the cars drive on the right side of the road. The headlight beams are now incorrect and I believe they use something to block the beams at the lenses to not blind other drivers.

#14 permits the left hand cars lights to shine correctly for right hand roads.

    Correct anyone?

Agree... U.K. Dudes writing about Euro cars. However it was interesting that they pulled some of the info from U.S. forums and postings.

Even if your E39 is RHD, the windscreen wiper still goes from right to left. BMW didnt bother to switch them on the E39s. They also kept the arrangement of the blinkers on the left of the steering wheel and wiper on the right.

    31. . Here's another - works on all BMW's with fly-by-wire throttle - turn on your ignition (without starting the car) for 10 seconds, turn it off, leave for 10 seconds and then start the car - you will have reset and recalibrated your accelerator pedal to take up any slack or sluggishness - most folks who have done this have reported a marked increase in response to a call for more coal in the boiler.

Works for me very well!!! I thought my car had issues since it was very sluggish off the line but this fixed it

    bmw 528i,
Great write up!! Let's be honest, how many of you knew about #35. I didn't know that the window stopped closing and returned a little when you applied a little pressure to the upper round rubber strip, amazing safety feature. In fact I have heard of a child's head getting caught in there and suffocated when he stepped on to a window switch whilst leaning out of a car that didn't have this safety feature. I wonder how many other cars have this safety feature or is it mandatory atall in the US and Canada?

Honestly...I knew that cause I've been reading and reading and searching and searching...LOL. I found it a very cool feature because my Bro had his hand rolled up in a VW window when we were kids. I'll never forget the screams of pain while the driver continued to try to roll up the window...luckily it was just his hand cause he's a professional violinist today (could've cost his career...YIKES)!

Do new VW's have this feature? I know they share a lot of our niceities.

I gotta say, i'm skeptical of this one. However, I'm going to try it and see what happens.

It is mandatory in the US for any vehicle with one-touch up windows.

that's what I figured, it's a figment of imaginations, like the "sport mode" by holding the DSC button until the dash light stays illuminated.
