It's measured from the inside of the lips, not the outside.

And also for the record, those are ugly wheels

Ok, just making sure... this is, after all, a thread about wheel width, and you posted a pic improperly measuring the width of the wheel.

That's not what I said. I said improperly measuring the width of the wheel, not improperly measuring the wheel itself.

If the deal goes through on a set of wheels I'm looking at, I'm going to attempt 17x10 on all 4 corners with 255's on each wheel.

    Wish me luck

    18x10 is a waste for only a 255. You'd be better off w/ 275's. A 9" wide wheel is ideal for 255's...

They aren't going to fit anyways so it doesn't really matter.

I knew what you meant, I just wanted to make the point that I doubt he will fit 17x10 with a 255 in the rear, let alone the front.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep looking.
I ran 17x9.5 et22 OZ Mitos on my old black coupe. I tried a 225/45 on the front first and with a decent drop the tires sat on the fender. They took them off right away and but 215/45s on. They fit perfect. The rears rolled were able to take the 225/45s though.

I'm not sure of 335 specs..( thats what you meant right 335?).. but I'm guessing you will need some sort of spacer with such high offsets which means you could easily fit them. If the offset is anything less than 25-30+, youll have trouble fitting them. I'd say a 35-40 offset would be perfect.

    17x10 et20- rolled fenders:

    17x10 et30- stock fenders:

    My tires are 225/45s.

What size are the inners? I need some.. And I have 7" barrels I could trade.
So just so i have this right, 17X10 ET30 with 225-45-17's fit in the rear of an E36 without rolling the fenders? Is there any room for a wider tire? How low is this car and what is the offset and size of the front wheels and tires? Are you running anything outside of factory alignment settings? I really like the look of this car. Thanks!

With rims in the ET40 range (give or take a few mm) yes. You might be able to fit a 235 but you will probably rub.

Maybe no the widest wheels and rims but I wouldn't go any wider because as of now I think the rim is flush perfect and looks mean from the rear. 18 x 10 Ch with BF Gforce TA 255's et 40

Widest I've seen on stock fenders were 10" wide ET40. And it wasn't with some gay tires, it had like 255s or something.
