I ran 255/35 Pilot Sports on 18x9 et45 BBS RGRs with untouched fenders and still had room to work with. I could've easily fit 265/35s, maybe without even rolling the fenders.
Over the sumer i was going to buy some 18" rgr's that had 265's on the back, hes a member and is selling the car, i think his name is BING or something. He said he had no issues what so ever and I don't think his fenders were rolled either.

I remember that car, it was the TT turbo Cosmos one. IIRC, he had 265 Pilot Sport Cups on 18x8.5 RGRs with no issues, but later flared the fenders.

You can tell from the pics available that he tire is not stretched, and being on a ten inch wheel, means it's going to be a wide tire. You can tell from the pictures that the tire is very wide, it looks to be much wider then your average 255 and 265, so I don't see how it's that unbelievable.

There is no way in hell that car has any kind of widebody work on it. You must be confusing it with another car.
    Sorry, but it is.

It is very very subtle like I said, but I remember seeing pics of it back in the day when it was getting worked on. The whole rear quarter panel was reworked to get them to fit

Oh wow, I just never would have thought someone would pay that much money to just slightly rework the fenders? Once you start getting into cutting/welding/painting, it's not that much more to just go all out and do a cool widebody. Still awesome though!

I have a set of 235/40/17s and 245/40/17s from my previous wheels that I wanted to put on them. Slight stretch..

So I was wrong- He has 285s- but my judgement wasn't. 285s would NEVER fit like pictured on stock fenders. Having a subtle widebody totally changes the game.

You seem like the guy to talk to since you know this stuff.

I want to fit some 17x9.5 +13s all around. How much fender work do I need to do?

You'll have to roll/pull the hell out of your fenders and run a 215/40. You'll have a lot of poke, but if you slam the car, it'l work. Close, but it'l work. The front will be more iffy than the rear.

Hmm...that's skinnier than I'm willing to go. I could probably do 225/45.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep looking.

I'd be skeptical of that working, since the wheels you want to fit poke 12.7mms more than the standard 17x8.5 et13, which is common "stretch and poke" fitment on an e36.

Should fit, however, you are better off choosing 215 or 225s for the front, or you'll have to run some more camber if you do not want to work on the fender.

The rear won't be a problem, I run 9.5x17 ET35 myself on stock fenders - although I have 225/35 on them, which I would also recommend since it allows you more clearance without modifying your fenders. I suspect you'd have some clearance issues with the 245s.

And on another matter: What is the widest possible wheel you can run on stock non-rolled fender without rubbing?
I have personally seen 17x10 on stock fenders in the rear without rubbing, but I suspect 10.5 or 11 should be possible too, depending on offset and tire - right?

You might be able to get away with a et35. Any less you'd poke too much on only rolled fenders, and any more you'd be rubbing something on the inside. You might be able to create some room on the inside of the wheel well for a higher offset but my fm10s rubbed my exhaust badly with fitted rubber and a +30 offset. I never really checked how much room I had on the inside of wheels with stretched tires.. It's def doable if you're willing to space the wheels out that far.
10.5J with ET35 will rub the strut. I'd say minimum of ET30 is needed.

18x10 +20 in my sig picture.

17x9.5 et13 would sit almost exactly where 17x10 +20s do. It can easily be done but a 215 tire would be ideal.

The fronts however would poke far past a stock fender.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

edit: It would look like my set up except with an extra quarter inch of poke up front:

I don't think so, I did the math, I think et35 would fit out back. My 10.5 et35 RSs fit out back (not driven yet though).

Yeah. The rear would be easy. The front will poke a lot. LIke I said, iffy. It could work if you're dedicated, slam your car, and really do the euro thing... but you'd have to space the back out, chances are.
