About to order a set of TCK S/A coilovers for my car, but I'm unsure as to which spring rates to go with? The car is mostly street driven with occasional Auto-X and DE's. I want to keep the ride relatively smooth and comfortable so I'm staying on the lower side rate wise.
I'm hearing 450/500 is a popular setup, but others are saying 450/550 are better.
Call TC Kline, they will be happy to talk through your driving style and expected usage to recommend the appropriate spring rates.
I have been running 450/500 TCK SA True Match on the street and have no complaints. I think you could go a little further, but have not tried anything else myself.
Ditto, I'm currently on 450/500 (Pete's recommendation) and on the street it is perfectly fine. Very well balanced along with other mods for autox/track.
I've ran 686 lbs/in H&R springs in the rear and it was actually not bad at all on the street. This on a set of 3 year old TCK S/A. It was stiff for sure but not harsh by any means.
I want TCK S/A

Call Pete at Kline's and talk to him. He will make sure that you get the right balance of comfort and performance.

I'm 550f/700r on TCKline DA's and it's "ok" on the street. I wouldn't want anymore spring for street usage with this shock.

I'm running 500 F/R and it's definitely fine for the street (for me). I wouldn't mind it being a little stiffer.
im at 450/550 and have been looking at going stiffer...

Something is wrong with my set up... mainly that I don't have TCK's.
I bought Tein Basics which have 504/540. And I feel like they are too stiff... when I go over expansions etc I am hopping out of my seat. My back hurts after an hour and a half drive.
I suppose it doesn't help that I have 18's with 225-40's but I didn't think it would make that big of a difference. I really do want to sell my suspension quick

I just called in TCK in Ohio and they recommended a 400f/500r setup. This seems a little low, but the guy on the phone said that a 450 front would be too stiff for a 235 street tire to stick.
Does this sound right or should I go with a 450 front anyway?
600F/700R here, its rough on the street, but I get by.

yeah 450/550 sounds good to me

450/550 is what you want for starters. Just to throw it out there, check out the TRM's adjustable coil overs. I.M.O much better money spent for your purposes and that's coming from someone who drives on an I.P car with TC Kline's.

I've been running TCK Da's with 500/500 with a bunch of other suspension crap, and the car handles great. It's comfortable enough on the street and very fast through the corners.

If you rode in a car with 450/550 and then a car with 400/500, I honestly don't think you would even feel that much of a difference. Plus since you rarely do any events, I would personally go with a setup that is more on the side of comfortable rather then stiff.
But in the end it's all up to you.
450f/500r is fine for a street driven car around stock weight.
If you start taking serious weight out, itll get pretty harsh on bumpier public roads.
Edit: I have the tck sa shocks and 450/500 springs. Car weighs about 2800# and is about as bumpy as Im comfortable with on the street. Im young too.

Just curious as to why(if you have) eliminated AST from your consideration.
fair enough. for that price discrepancy and your usage i would do the same. What happened to the E46 M3 thing then?
