Me vs Mustang GT vs E36 M3 (CMT)

On our way back from Hot import daze in York PA, its an over 3hr drive for me from NJ and a LONG time from Chris (CMT) who came from Boston..!!

The PA Turnpike is perfect to race.. no cops.. guard rails with no place to hide and straight roads in the dark. It was Chris, Ron (themadhatter), and myself on the way back. My girlfriend is in my car along with Ron's girl in Ron's car. Chris is alone. We're just cruising with Ron in the lead.. I see a white Mustang GT 5.0.. an older one rushing fast up to Ron starting to mess with him.. I was like.. hells no.. So I got up on the Mustang's ass and wipped by him.. so the Mustang was on.. Chris is behind me.. After I flew past the Mustang.. I slowed down to wait for him.. Im in the left lane and cruising with the Mustang rushing up on the right. Theres a car in the right lane ahead so the Mustang has to pass me to keep moving fast. I drop into 4th and nail it.. blocking him easily from cutting me off.. when he couldnt get in front of me... he cut Chris off who is behind me.. so then Chris got pissed.. Right now the Mustang is behind me and Chris is behind him.. 2 lane open road..! All I hear is WWWWHHHHHAAAAAA BOOOOOOMM... Chris's B&B is howling deep... and I see Chris flying past the Mustang and coming up behind me fast flying into the right lane.. so then its me and Chris.. Im about a half car lenghts in front of Chris.. we knew we were going for it so we both NAILED it at like maybe 85mph.. We PISSSSSSSED on that Mustang who was way back both reaching 130mph.. we ran NECK TO NECK!! with him a half a car lengths behind me like we started.. Neither one of us pulled each other..! I was in amazement..! His 97' BMW M3 has a Jim C intake, underdrive pulleys, and a SWEET B&B Tri-flo exhaust. My 97' 328i is running a ECIS/JimC/Supersprint and a 3.38 LSD diff. Im extremely happy my car is up to par with a worked M3.. :p And Im sure Chris has plenty more idea's running through his head to make sure he pulls on me next time..

Hey, It was nice meeting you for the first time at the show. There were so many BMWs there! I'm glad to see that everyone had a fun time. The show just wasn't what I was expecting. There wasn't enough cars and damn was it hot and sticky. Plus $19 for a few vendors and about 300 cars, hopefully next year is better and I can show and hang with you guys

Were I to meet him on the road, I would assume his car to be a debadged M3/4 in a similar state of tune to my own. Also, when his SuperSprint is warm, it has a fabulous bassy note that can be heard from waay outside the car.

Congrats again, Willy, that 328i runs better than I ever would have imagined. It's funny, the first thing I thought was that I needed to do more work to the car, and if I can find the 3.4x gear for the price discussed I'll do it, but I realized today that I'm happy with my car as it sits.

We really did embarass that poor mustang, though, he had no idea what he was getting into when he started messing with Ron...no God Damn idea, the chump-style prankster!

Thanks Chris.... so did u ever look into that 3.4x diff??? Is that for real?? Why arent u happy with ur M3?? Its a very nice car.. Looks great on the road and the color is fabulous. Sounds MEAN

I can let the car breath now that the lady has decided that she will NOT be coming with me. Man that was fun watching you guys just piss on that Mustang....poor guy had no idea what he was getting himself into.

Willy, do you remember when I told you I felt like my luck was running out after those two lucky breaks with the cops? I just got pulled over going well over 130 mph out of Boston while racing a motorcycle. I had just sat in traffic for two hours going into town, only to find out that my girlfriend had hopped another train furthur north where I could have picked her up and saved myself the hassle.

I hit the onramp full whack, and passed a bike who fell in behind me. I took it up to 130, and backed off. He started riding my ass, and I took it back up to (this time ) well over 135 mph at which point I slowed again. This time there was no bike, just familiar looking headlights pulling in behind me, and then the takedown lights came on. I pull over.

Cop: "Okay, let's hear it."

Me: "Huh?"

Cop: "Let's hear it. Let's hear the story."

Me [very uneven voice]: "Sir, I won't waste your time or intelligence with a story. There is no excuse for what I did. I just sat in traffic for two hours waiting to get into town over the bridge to pick <b>her</b> up only to find she'd gone to the Malden station instead. I'm still pissed off, and it led me to make very poor choices. I deserve whatever you feel I have coming to me, sir.

Cop [smiling a very weird, weird smile]: You were racing that bike, weren't you.

Me: He was riding my ass, so I nailed it, I admit it. I'm just chock full of great choices this evening. I have no excuse. I would offer that I do not drive like this, ever, but how can I expect you to believe that?

Cop [laughing]: Wait here, please.

*five minutes later*

Cop: Christopher, against my better judgement I am letting you go with a verbal warning. I do not think I need to tell you just how badly tonight could have gone for you.

Me [stammering]: Whuh...Wha....really?

Cop [laughing]: Hey, I can go back and write you up if you like.

Me: No sir! Can I send you a bottle of champagne? A dinner on me? Anything?

Cop: Nah, it wouldn't look right. Besides, you haven't had a ticket since 1996, and you have a great attitude. Take it easy getting out of here, Christopher.

Me: OH YES SIR!

....now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go throw up. Jess was watching him the whole time and said that when I started talking he started smiling that weird smile. he wasbeaming when he walked back to his car...like no one had ever told him the truth before.

I fully expected to go to jail, and wasn't going to make matters worse by lying to the guy (I mean why slap him in the face AGAIN by lying, along with my total disregard for the law?)..

Thanks RightM3, but I said what I said before I knew what I'd said....if that makes any sense. That and it has been my experience that the truth is the best thing to get one into an officer's good graces....but....oh man....it wasn't calculated and I didn't expect that lucky outcome at all .....not at that speed.

You know we got MAD lucky driving like that on the way back from PA.. plus when we both took off at that light like a bat outa hell and that cop pulled out in front of us.. that was LUCKY! I didnt push it anymore.. (Except for today on the bike of course..

)

But Im glad u got out of it.. and u do speak very respectable..

huh, not three.

The guy was messing with me for no more then 30 seconds and being I have my girl in the car I didn't play with the GT.

But low and behold, what do I see in my rear view mirror? The two other bimmers in our train.

Willy and Chris pulling moves that came straight out of the movie Top Gun...that mig had no idea what the hell he got himself into. I'm still laughing at the thought and site of it.

the question now is: Who is who's wingman?
