Open Diff
LSD
^ On that note, the BMW open diff works very well. When I got my car gifted to me about 5-6 years ago from my step father (been in the family Since '99) he was sure it had a LSD in it, but I soon learned it did not. (It does now )
LSD has a giant white "S" painted on to the case.
Stancing is for drivers trapped in an abusive relationship of their own lives.
Alright so this still has me a bit confused my 92 e30 when I spin one wheel in the air the other does not spin either direction......... when I spin the driveshaft both wheels spin. ???????????
wrong test. driveshaft will always spin both if there is enough resistance in the diff no matter if lsd or not. sounds like your diff is open.
definitive test. 2 people required.
get back of car in the air.
have one person hold one tire to keep it from spinning.
spin other tire by hand.
if the tire that is held does not move, or can be turned in the opposite direction = open diff
if the tire that is held cannot be held still, cannot be moved in the opposite direction, and turns the same direction while being held = lsd.
if purchasing an lsd pop the cover off the rear and visually confirm.
if still confused then car does not deserve an lsd.
