    Ok Marco....

Tell me what you can about my DME......PLEASE!

    Chip label says;
    BCT 22LB. BIN
    LAMON +1000RPM

LAMON is the previous owner's name.

Under the DME label on left side is the remains of a checkered flag type sticker that appears to have been removed.

I cannot tell you anything other than it was tuned by RMS..

Not sure it really matters because I thought we were going to go over your hardware and set you up with a new tune..

Thanks Marco. There are two reasons; what I have has been running the way it is for 15K miles and I'm not sure what damage, if any, has occured, and I have no idea where to start as far as the hardware. Do you want me to take more pics and if so what do you want to see?

Well, there are 2 you could look at this...

    1) leave it be and drive it as is, if you feel it is running well and making great power, and there is no pinging or knocking.....

    2) Tell me how much boost you are making or..tell me blower pulley size, crank pulley size and V1 or V2 blower, the part number on the injectors ( ex D1163BA)..the part number on the HFM ( ex 0-280-217-806) if it is a 3.5 or 3 inch HFM...and other mods you have..And we can go from there..

    Blower pulley- 3.125" 8 rib

crank pulley-measured with tape measure across diameter from pulley lip-7"

injector part# 280-150-945 there was also the # 866 but it did not look like part of the other #, WITH RED TOPS

HFM part # 280-217-803 I was told this is a Porsche part by the PO

    V2 blower

    AC Scnitzer headers

and a supposed low compression engine....

    That sounds odd....
overspinning that blower at or over 56,000 RPM..with 30 lb injectors?

I would get the exact measurement of that crank pulley...and you should buy 42 lb injectors and use the Porsche 803 HFM you have...and I can send you a sweet tune, once we get ther boost in order with the pulley info...

I would be worried about damage you may have already done to the engine running what is probably a 6.00 crank pulley and a 3.125 blower pulley for 15k miles with 30 lb injectors (probably 32 lbs at BMW fuel pressure). It has to be dangerously lean above 6000 rpm -- you have pulleys to run about 13 psi but fuel to support only about 9 psi.

Philip ..do you think the crank pulley has an 1/2 inch lip on each side?
I wonder if the crank pulley is bigger than 6 inch ..maybe really 6.5 or 7 inch...
I have heard of a 7 inch crank pulley being used before....

The crank pulley lip is even with the smooth side of the belt.
The compression check was good with 4-6% across the cylinders.

so if that crank pulley is 6.75 or 7.00 inches..that is waaaaay too much RPM for that blower for those injectors...And the blower is being badly overspun...

    not good...

What size blower pulley do you recommend for that 7" or 6.75" crank pulley and injector combo? I want to reduce the boost as the car will be used as a track car.
I measured it again just to be sure that I saw what I saw and it is at 7" from lip to lip diameter.

Get a 6 inch crank pulley...

Maybe somebody here would be willing to trade you their 6 inch for your bigger one?

6 inch crank pulley with a 3.125 blower pulley, get some 42 lb injectors....use your Porsche HFM
get a stronger BPV ..if it doesn't have a better one......and I have a nice OBD1 AA tuune for that setup

You have headers...maybe get a trackpipe and or AA race exhaust......

It also has Schrick cams and the aftercooler and an oil cooler.
Marco I would be tuning for maybe a little more than 300 whp as it seems that at that level of tune it will live a happy track life. Do you agree?

Where do i find the BOV? There is a lot of blue vacuum hose and what looks similar to a fuel pressure regulator attached to it-is that the BOV or recirc valve?

    You are thinking small potatoes...

300 RWHP would be ~ 8 lb boost..and then you could use 36s and a Euro HFM...

you can have a reliable setup with 400 RWHP as well..with 11-12 lb boost, Porsche HFM, aftercooler , 42's, cams..etc,...

Tthe BPV..is on the side of the aftercooler and it angles toward the fusebox....

put up a pic of this device you speak of...

the -102 will not last..or hold the boost at all..or for very long

PBONSALB likes -108 and -110...I think...

I like Stratmosphere Compact DX..I think 2 down on the page

    http://www.stratmosphere.com/hyperboost.htm

They are like $159..but usually when you name drop me they cut $20-$25 off...

Marco has me thinking that maybe I should keep what I have although if I change my mind I'll look you up. If I did need one I would probably look for a trade with someone that wants a 7" pulley....

Is everyone looking past this said low compression motor? Is there a way we could get the compression test readings to atleast help confirm that you do infact have a low comp engine or not. Well atleast without tearing the motor down and blue printing it.

NO...Marco wants you to NOT have that 7 inch crank pulley....you need a 6 inch crank pulley and run it with 3.125 blower pulley you have..or get a 3.33 to lower the boost a little......

I asked, but haven't got the answer...that won't affect the hardware or the tune I get him..maybe just want him to keep the 3.125 pulley..and not use a 3.33..
