i drove a new e90 and liked the car, but the interior sucks, i hate how its like every other car now and dosent have the driver centred controls. i like in an E46 how the passenger is allowed to do anything.
Anyone else agree, i mean even M3 didn't feel right inside.
try a 1 series, the dash layout is a lot more driver oriented
i think he's just referring to how BMW's interior's used to be
centered around the driver and now they're going away from that.
The reason why it was angled away was so that passengers would work the nav and drivers could concentrate more on the road. WHen you think about it in that aspect, it is a good thing. I liked the driver biased dash, but it wouldn't make or break a sale for me. In reality, it is not a big difference.

it's a bad thing, and it's a big difference, and it's one of the reasons I did not buy a new m3 or 335i

it IS a big issue for ME, I found it very noticeable and improved on the 1's
maybe not and issue for you, and that's perfectly fine
I made a list of things I liked about each car (and other brand cars), things I did not like, and that made the list when I got to the point of buying a car
Interior wise the 1 series is on par with the E46 3 series.
i was EXTREMELY impressed with the lay out and feel of the cockpit in the 135 coupe i drove last weekend (at the Ultimate Drive).....which was right after the 335 coupe, liked the 1er cockpit way better......The M3 coupe i drove gave me chills just sitting in it (ha not really), it was sick though. So yes, I was not impressed with the e90/92 cockpit, except for the M.....also if you liked the e46, the first thing I thought when i sat in the 135 was how it just looked like an updated e46 interior.
after sitting in quite a few different BMW's I have decided that i love the layout of my E46 325i the best. it may just be because it's MY car, but I did impulse buy it because i fell in love with it on a bullshit test drive at carmax, so i'm not sure. the new 1's are very close, but not an E46....hint hint BMW

I always liked it, too. That said, have you ever been driven in the passenger seat on a hot day and try to get some cold air to blow on you. Not happening. After that one day i spent sweating my ass off, i was over it....lol

I'm definitely a fan of the driver-oriented dash layout. I didn't realize it at first but that's part of the reason I really like the E36 M3 interior.

E36/E46 RTAB Tool For Rent - PM for details!
I love the driver oriented dash. I first noticed this feature in my dads C6 (before I bought the bimmer). When I went to test drive my 325 it was the first thing I noticed about the interior. I don't think it would keep my from buying a new M3 though.
Shark Injector. ZHP Exhaust. 3.46 Differential. M-Tech II Bumper. Koni Sport. H&R Race. H&R Front Sway. CDV Delete. Balo Slotted Rotors. Hawk HPS. Hardwired V1. ZHP Knob. Trunk Lip Spoiler. Smoked LED Tails. Smoked Corners/Sides. 35% Tint. O.Z. 35th Anniversary Wheels
I miss my old 300zxTT. It had the best feel in the world. If that wasnt a cockpit I don't know what is. It a good snug feel and the controls were all about the driver. I can't say I get the same feeling from bimmers, but theres so much that makes up for that. Its a small loss.
Mine was black exterior, but you get the idea.

The E38's and E39's have great cockpits. The radio and HVAC controls are turned in the direction of the driver. Its not even that noticeable until you sit in the passenger's seat.
The center panel is angled. Maybe not as extreme as the E46's setup, but they are. When people ride shotgun for the first time, that's the first thing that they notice when they try to change radio stations.
You call the interior bland, I call it simple. We all have our own opinions, so I'll let that slide.
What's next, the E90's Logic7 is inferior to the E46's hifi setup?
i see what you did at the end of that post, i also saw that it was lame and wasnt the 'obvious funny' you were going for.. the interior and how it is designed and proportioned for the driver and anyone else in the vehicle is pretty damn important.. as most of the time when you drive a car you drive it from the inside
toyota supra has the best interior layout for the driver imo
hi i'm nickmanderfield.com and i hang out on the internets,
i also recently started to sell carbon fiber coasters.
logic 7, lol.
er ok, sorry to break it to you but its stereo anyway you put it.
20 speakers or 6 its still 2 channel Stereo
I really like the E46 interior over the E90 for sure.
