6psi + 91octane does not equal 400whp. Scan and post the dyno sheet that states you are over 400whp.

You never answered the other questions. What valves did you replace and who is doing the tuning. 550whp.... good luck.

I would have to agree. No way will a stock 540i on 91 Calicrap, w/ 6psi get 400 rwhp. But, I would love to be proven wrong. And over on M5Board, several ESS charged M5 owners are complaining they are not getting anything near the hp numbers advertised by ESS.

You never posted your 4.5psi dyno. Could you, and list motor mods too? Or link me if its in another thread?

    Thanks

I am by no means trying to be jerk or anything but... a 4k lb car, even if it had 500-550whp is not that fast or impressive. With a perfect run and a professional driver 500whp would get you 11.6+ in the 1/4. 550whp, may put you sub 11.50 but not buy much. Is this fast, yes, is this cool for a 4 door BMW sedan, yes! Is this super impressive and faster than sport bikes and a bunch of other cars???? HMMM No.

Jimmy is running a Dinan set up which can be seen at this link. He is making around 400whp and his fasted time was a 12.58 in the 1/4. Again, not very impressive.

The VF kit is rated at 415BHP@6psi. With headers you should see a 30-40BHP increase on an S/M62. Best case, you are looking at 450-465BHP @ 6psi, which is around 400whp or (slightly less). Regardless, its a mid 12 second car anyway you slice it.

I had an E39 M5 Dinan S2. I ran 12.4 and even with and pulled on a buddies car that ran a 12.30 (on occasion). My car was capable of a 12.25-12.50, best case and depending on the environmentals. That said, it was not as fast as you describe yours to be.

Here is a good video that highlights the difference between a S/C 540, an E39 m5 and an Stock E60 M5. As you see, the white 540 starts out strong and then gets walked hard. I do not see your care being much different with your 6psi kit.

Lastly, you need to post some pictures, dyno numbers or 1/4 times. Something, anything because what you are claiming does not make any sense and you have not taken the time to post anything to back your claims up. That typically means BS on the internet, so.....

I would love to see an E39 break into the 10's like the E60's have, shit anything under 11.70 will be new ground for the E39. Good luck and please post info.

    No, the E39 M5 is a Dinan S2.

This was at edge Motorworks. 4.5 psi. After this dyno pull, we changed the Bosch plugs to NKG and got another 12 rwhp. This was on a stock M60 engine with shitty Unichip tuning (all and everything has been changed now)

Ot, but why did different plugs make a 12 hp difference?

That sheet shows 335whp, no? So ~347whp with the new plugs. That's good power tho. What were you stock? You must have had a strong engine!

    1) Jimmy's dyno graph scares the crap out of me. Its all over the place!
    2) That video is awesome, and that 540 is slooow. I'd like to see what my 1000lb+ lighter car with more power would do to the three of those cars
    3) I think 540iMauler is just really excited about his car. I'd love to see some pics/video/dyno/slips from it tho, sounds like a nice car, even tho we know it isn't pushing enough power to toy with a 600.

That is what happens when one is a rookie. My x-tuner ended up blowing up the engine on his Mustang dyno after I told him about this dyno graph. He said I had a "weak" engine. .. I found out he had "weak" tuning skills instead.

What car are you talking about? The 540 would be an easy kill, the S2 may be close depending on driver and the type of race. The E60 is pretty nasty even in stock form. I think their WHP range from 415whp-ish to 435whp-ish stock. All the bolt-ons get it to 480whp-ish. They run low 12's stock but over 80mph-ish they really pull hard. Either way, it would be a cool race for sure.

I looked at the supercharging option, but thats something I would need to save my pennys up for to purchase a DINAN one, but turbos I can do over time.
    thanks

Don't think so. The E39 M5 is around 3800ish. The S2 is a bit lighter. Mine was around 3725 with the Dinan wheels and exhaust.

Yeah, so if e36'es are a thousand pounds lighter than that, I REALLY want one! (more than I already did, that is)

My mistake on the weight. My car is a bit over 3200lbs with the turbo kit, sub, Heavy wheels, full tank, and spare. It isn't too much work to get them a good bit lighter tho, removing the spare, and putting in light seats would drop it 100lbs pretty quickly.
