e46 stock head unit with new subs and amp

After researching i have still not found a clear diy for adding new subwoofers and amp to the stock stereo in an e46. First off, i have a 2001 325ci with the upgraded harmon kardon stereo. I want to keep the stock harmon kardon head unit and amp to power all of my speakers other than the new subs and amp. i plan on ditching the harmon kardon subs because one is blown. What i ask is what wires (ex. remote, rca) do i need to tap into to power my aftermarket amp thus powering my new subs without catching my car on fire lol. i have found a descent but very confusing thread for the e36 but it let me more confused than i started. Any help, descriptions, pictures, diagrams would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

The PO of my 325 had a Audio Control LC6i tapped into the stock sub wires to run a sub/amp while retaining the rest of the stock stereo. Basically any line-out-converter (LOC) should work for what you are trying to accomplish.
