    s54 head on a n52 block

Does any body know if this combination can be made to work?,if not what is stopping it?.

Thought I'd ask you guys as your pretty good at knowing what fits on what.

    Cheers

It won't fit. You wouldn't want to use the N52 block anyways.

Just get a S54 and boost that.

What is it that makes it not fit?
I'm guessing the n52 block wouldn't stand up to high bost, but I was just wanting to stay N/A. I just asked here because you guys are good at mixing and matching parts.

It physically won't match up correctly. The parts aren't interchangeable.

Is it the coolant jackets, head studs, timing gear, bore spacing or all of the above ?.

My aim is to build a very light, high reving and high flowing I6, what options/mixing combos work?.

    Thanks

You answered your own question, just get the S54 as is.

The s54 is a bit too heavy for what I want.I don't mind sacrificing the robustness of a cast iron block in order to save a bit of weight. Does the s54 head fit on a m5x block?

I have thought of that, but I was hoping to make use of the electronic goodies that come with the s54[ABS,DSC] hence why I wanted to use the s54 head.

    Cheers

I don't know, but I don't think that block would be any lighter any way

No, BMW did not engineer their motors to be able to swap parts from different generations.

I thought the s54 was lighter than the m50 series engines?

Ah ok. Anyway, the s54 is still a wicked engine if you're up for the job of tuning it.
