anyone here used magic erasers to clean their interiors?

look what it did! it wrecked my steering wheel! i've read a few times, that it's good for leather, and makes it look awesome.

and it ATE MY WHEEL!!! WTF!

and it stained my damn seat!

i'm not too worried about the seat, as they're pretty rough, anyways.... but the wheel irks me. it feels shitty.

anyone got a good shape wheel they wanna give a brutha?

i didnt. i got mad, and stopped what i was doing. the weird thing is, i had just started a fresh one for the wheel, after doing my shift knob... both are leather, but look what it did to the wheel... ugh.

Try leather reconditioner as bimjam said, that will most likely help.

DO NOT use Armorall products! They make leather crack. Stay away from the Armoral! Yea man sorry to hear that.. But yea try using other stuff see if it would come off. Goodluck!

use 800 grit sand paper and sand it smooth. then put black liquid shoe polish on it a little at a time let dry then sand more the repeat. the leather needs to be smoothed out the re dyed thats all. I did mine like that and it looks like new... same with my leather shif knob.

Armorall is not good. I don't use it for anything anymore. McGuires, Lexol, Eagle 1. Or if you want higher dollar, 3M brand.

Why did you use that exactly? Not bashing just wondering what the problem was.

The eraser is used for really bad spots or stains. Try using a leather conditioner with a towel, it will help

Unless you've swapped your steering wheel, I think it is vinyl, not real leather.

Yeah, you gotta be really careful with the steering wheel.. I dunno if I told you that or not.. but the dye started coming off of mine so I went very lightly on it. Not sure you should try using it on cloth though.. It worked good for your dash and everything else though, right?

    heh.

my option list says i have the leather wheel, so unless the PO swapped it...
that WAS a really light touch, too. and the eraser was BLACK where it touched. the only reason i tried it was because there's a shit load of like.... sweat dirt on the wheel. my signal and wiper arms were covered in the same gross... musta been a fat guys car...

and the cloth was an accident. i dropped the eraser when i saw what it did, and it took vengeance on my seat. they're the next thing out of the car, i think, so i'm not concerned, but the wheel makes me sad.

if anyone knows, can you give me a list of what to buy to fix it?
or sell me a wheel with an airbag? hah.

FYI. ArmorAll is "silicone based" = not good for leather/vinyl/rubber. Will shine like glass then crack like a$$.
