1988 Monte Carlo Rally, this 325iX was driven by Frenchman Francois Chauche, Francois had many successes driving in the Andros Trophy ice racing series over the years but he was never that well known in rallying, this was a totally private entry, amazingly he finished 6th overall, this was a Group N showroom car remember, although the photo shows the car on an icy surface on one of the highest points of the rally, the Col de Turini, fact was that there was hardly any snow or ice on the 1988 event, can you imagine finishing 6th overall on a WRC event nowadays, you would need a few hundred thousand £/$!!!

I'll probably clean this thread up and remove a lot of the sticky requests. From that point if you see posts that aren't related to this thread (IX price requests, should I buy this car, etc) PM me and I'll remove them.

I just wanted to say thank you to all that have contributed to all the info here in this thread! I have learned a lot while here and am blessed to own my 89ix. It really is an amazing car and will probably never get rid of it. Unless it blows up but then I may end up piecing it back together lol
Well I have not found much info on early ix's or more specifically the European 325iX.
But then I stumbled upon this website and it has all (supposedly) of the models offered from every car company for every year. Here is a direct link to the 1986 model which confirms 3.64 Diffs for the manual, a higher 9.7:1 Compression Ratio, No emissions control, and some other things compared to the US model.

I looked up 1986 325iX no cat due to the car I just bought which was fitted with an aftermarket 02 module (it looks old) after being officially imported and federalized. You can compare cars so I compared it to the US 1991 model, and it also shows the euro model weighs almost 200 lbs less. If you want to find specs on any cars, I highly recommend this site now. It also shows the 3.73 Diffs were in fact made on automatics and matches all of the information I have heard is 'supposedly' true.
It makes me want to get back in the garage rebuilding the motor on the 86 iX I've got since it is so rare, particularly in the states.
Hope that helps anybody else who was looking for more info on the Euro iX and if you want to publish info on the first post.

not sure why there is not like a picture thread for e30. i am used to the e21 section. sorry
but i had about 7 ix's this past summer. got ride of 6 of them and i kept the white one for myself.
just did the heater core on it and off course leaking fuel tank, fixed that, all new tires. brakes. and oil change and spark plug along with radiator hose and fuel filter. still need to do timing belt and water pump sometimes after the new year. its kind of cold now.
car is clean with minimum amount of rust. the worst piece is the rear valance under the bumper.
also i made a homemade single headlight grills. some ppl might not like them, it's okay. i don't expect everyone to.
i hate winter in michigan, but with the ix i am loving it. :-)
The registry is down and the pdf file of the newsletters is down as well. There is a yahoo groups that is still up as well as davey's iX site.

I just stumbled across this. I thought I would post it here in case someone might be interested in it. I apologize if this is a double post, although I didnt see it anywhere else. There was also a thread somewhere about removing the engine from the bottom..... I hadn't seen it done on an iX.

It's probably been posted before, but the IX production figures on the 1st post are COMPLETELY WRONG. I really wish someone would update that 1st post. Lots of ads out there with BS data quoted from it... confuses people.
@nando posted a thread on r3v based on BMW data in 2013. THere's a new thread with detailed info including tables of various option combinations.
