Serious Headlight question for E36....

Hey guys, I was wondering if it is possible to take out the Glass lens on the Highbeam portion of the E36 headlights. The reason i want to do this is to give it that "clear" look like the E46 BMW's. If it is possible that would be REALLY cool. I have heard that someone did lowbeam and highbeam but on the lowbeam the aim was off and light scattered everywhere, I think On the highbeams it would matter b/c its just facing forward. If any of you have any idea how to do it, or any suggestion please get back to me. Thanks!

(also, Is there anyways to put a new plastic lens b/c mine are all pitted up. Any ideas?? thanks!

Heh, I'm about to just go out an look for a headlight housing and try it myself, wouldn't hurt, they only go for like $80something on eBay.

Thanks man, Yeah i was thinking about buying a dummy pair of headlights and trying it out, If it works i can just put those in and keep my original ones. I may also install riding/city lights (blue ones) to give it that xenon look. Thanks!

sorry but i havent gotten a change to do that battery test like the others did. I still dont understand what to do. DO i just hook two wires up to the battery and then to the bulb and thats it?? thanks, when i installed the bulbs before in the dome light it smoked alittle but i dont know if this was b/c of the "break in" period or if it was smoking, b/c i only did it for like two seconds. i would like to find out.

then hook a wire to both sides of the bulb


BATTERY

(-terminal) *------------- other side of the lightbulb

I thought about that too before.. Never tried tho coz I knew I was gonna get ellipsoids sooner or later.

But it seems u can pull out the reflector housing from the rear.. but u may end up breaking some of the plastic coz its not that strong nor meant to bend.
