    e36 towing capacity

Hey - has anyone ever towed a small trailer with their e36? I'm moving to Texas from CA rather suddenly - and wondering how much the car can safely pull, particuarly through a very hot atmosphere. Thanks!

    Maybe U-Haul can help.
I've seen a ford probe pulling a jet ski.

I just wrote a page on towing with my bimmer. - fk. I hate african dial up connections, they're about as stable as the damn governments here. :

    ---

    here's the short short version:

class I hitch from Delian 2000lbs trailer/200lbs tongue weight

I use it for my jetski, 600lbs max with out any problems. I've done up to 95mph before I remembered I was towing a personal water craft. the car is very stable at all speeds. don't forget: braking, acceleration, fuel economy and handling are affected by the extra weight.

I wouldn't tow more then 1,000lbs cause I own a truck that pulls my 6,000lbs trailers of firewood so it's needless to use the bimmer for anything heavy.

You can get your bimmer with a hitch from BMW AG, even ACS has towing accessories for your bimmer in Europe.

wiring up the lights is a walk in the park, if I can do it, anyone can. Just make sure you get a computerized pigtail that taps into the battery and doesn't draw power from the cars lighting system.

I say go for it, the hitch is very useful for many other things including a track trailer if you're a track or auto-x junky.
