is chip worth it on 325i auto?

I am seriously considering buying a Dinan chip. I have a 93 325i automatic . Is it worth it putting the chip it? I have no other mods at the moment, but I do plan on, soon after, putting in a CAI.

I think if you can find a used one then it's worth it. I wouldn't pay retail for anything Dinan.

With an automatic sapping a lot of the power you may want to consider maybe pulleys and fan delete instead. You may not feel too much with just a chip. Just my 2 cents.

Well it is used and am getting a preety good deal on it. I hear mixed reactions about the fan deleate so I dont want to do it. I think if I am close to gettting the gains shown I will be happy.

I have auto too but with JC chip and PAR CAI the car full really hard above 3k rpm. I have fan deleted mode but I don't really like it much because when I stuck on traffic, the Aux fan kick in and out make idle jums up and down like crazy. I don't know this problem happen to all car with fan deleted mode or just my car. Hope this help.

I got good, noticible gains on my 325is auto with Dinan intake and chip.

I bought the chip from Joe325i .I also have an auto and I have to admit it really smooths out the power band but I still need to test it out on the freeway.I only have a CAI and an M3 Exhaust besides that.

What happened? Also, I noticed a mileage increase today I think it is from the chip and I washed my K&N.:

Any concerns about long term reliability and/or strain on the AT from the new torque and HP?

We aren't talking massive horsepower increases here. Even if you do both a tranny and computer chip on the 325 I doubt it adds more than 10-15hp. The tranny can handle that.

I just talked to my mechanic and my dad and they said that the gains are better for a manual tranny compared to autos. For autos it's pretty minimal so it's up to you but it should smooth out the power band. I am still going to get a chip for my 328i auto later on tho despite what my mechanic says and what my dad says.

    I have a chip in my automatic 93 325i.
The onlt real difference I noticed is that the car feels a little more limber after 3k rpm.
I don't have a tranny chip though. You may consider looking into the tranny chip as well.

I got a Dinan chip in my 1995 325i auto with over 200k miles on it.. pulls hard all over and plus it allows me to hit 145+ on the odo... i was doing 145 and my RPMS were only at 5500 i coulda went more but i ran out of the freeway and off the line she pulls hard at 3000 n up... my vote? Definitley worth it...
