Wondering can I swap 95 325i 18-button with a 98 325ic directly.
If I took the 18 button can I just connect the 7-button with out any mods using the 98's connectors?

if you are going from a 18-button to a 7-button, then the power/negative lines have to be moved from the one connector to the other. I forget which ones. I believe that is pretty much it. The rest doesn't need to be reversed in my opinion as the black connector can be left in behind and it will not cause harm.
Why are you stepping back? Or, you taking the 18-button and putting it in the '98, and then moving the 7-button and placing that in the '95 model year?

My car has 18 button obc from factory, but the CODE function is not working. When I activate the CODE function the car still starting up. Can anyone help me to resolve this problem? Any ideas?
What's the procedure you're using?

Turning the key into position 2, then pushing the CODE button, setting the code and pushing the set button. CODE button lamp is blinking. When I start the engine it starts without entering the code but OBC still wants to write the code.
Try that procedure but turn the key to position 1

Still the same ((
I bet your car did not come with 18 button from the factory. When you upgrade from 11 to 18 the code button doesn't work unless you do some special wiring. Either that or you have a faulty 18 button.

You can check by vin code than there is 18 button obc from factory. )) There was aftermarket alarm system on my car but previous owner uninstalled it. Maybe the problem is something in wiring. Maybe he cut or did something else with the wirings.

I just finished this install and the write-up was very helpful.
I have a 1998 328is with an 11 button, and I found that several of the wires, including the illusive black/green wire for the code function were already part of the old 11 button black connector. For the black/green specifically, I just connected together the black/green from each obc connector, to the black/green on the car and have full functionality of the CODE feature
I probably could've gotten away with not cutting the black connector off completely, something for others to keep in mind.
Thanks again for this write-up.

Sorry for bumping an old thread.
Does anyone have the pictures to go with this retrofit?
