so i changed my O2 sensors(i got 107Kmiles on the car) today. since nobody posted any pictures of where they are located, i thought i'd do that. even if it helps one person - i did not waste my time taking pix.
i had to buy the removal tool(22mm, $12 from kragen), also i bought an extender.
on the second picture you can see one of the sensors( the other one is already removed-circle1), i reccomend to do it on a cold car cause its a very tight space and you can easily burn yourself.
heres a pic of an old and a new sensor.
i didnt notice any diffrence in power, but now the car idles at lower RPMs and idling itself is more stable.
good luck.
I could be wrong, but I thought our cars had more than 2 sensors(O2)? Maybe some before and after the cat? My car is a 530i though..

you're right , i only did the pre-cat ones.
Easy as pie huh! Nice gloves.
I have my CEL on, it claims its the bank 2 before cat o2 sensor.
But I know it's the Air Mass Meter....I should just get one already.

Here is a link to MAF sensor for the 3.0L I6: I started a post about this a few weeks ago on this and the other forum. There are 2 sensors left at that price.

i have the same issue with needing to change my MAF and O2 sensors on my 2001 525i...the link you posted about the MAF on ebay? how does this ocmpare to the part BMW wants to sell me for $350+? will this sensor also work on my car?
i would rather use a BMW part but if the aftermarket works well....i would use that to save some money. builind a house so every dollar counts rightnow.
who is jack and how can i get ahold of him?
I suggest doing it on a cold car. Yeah the burns suck but stripping those threads because they are too warm sucks worse.
I have to get this done soon. Just trying to find a good place for the Sensors. Thanks for the pictures.
I purchase the Peake Diagnostic tool and it says Precat oxy Sensor Bank1 Aging. I was going to replace but need Pix!!!!!! Help
pictures are gone

LOL. But seriously, if you can't locate an 02 sensor, you most likely shouldn't be the one to replace them. There are two pre-catalytic 02 sensors. Very easy to-do. www.eactuning.com for the parts and they'll walk you thorugh it if you need help.
