try a razor blade maybe, or some other kind of mild abrasive, like a bathtub cleaner.

just be really careful not to get it on the car's finish.

Do NOT use anything abrasive on the glass. You may scratch it. Some of the new vette's have such soft glass that even a mild cleanser will scratch.

If you have hard water build up, you can try a couple of things:

Bon Ami POLISHING powder - not the cleanser - good luck finding it though...it's supposed to be available in some grocery stores, but I have yet to run across it.

#000 steel wool. Available at Home Depot/Lowes

Mild vinegar/water solution (don't get any on your waxes as it will remove all finishes).

Damn, what is it with people thinking clay bars are the one solution to every detailing dilemma?

Clay barring a window will not be effective 99% of the time. You need to use the Bon Ami like Hal suggested...

You can get it online, for what that's worth.

A 50/50 solution of distilled white vinegar and water or a 50/50 solution of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and water would be worth a shot.

What the fuck do they know indeed. Look at the cars they're designing! *puke*

All kidding aside, though, claying a windshield has never, ever worked for me. I've detailed some cars with serious water spots on the glass and the only thing that worked was Bon Ami.

Now, if I were to print that out and send it in, do you think they'd send me my free kit?

Looking as you are reading this.
I hate recommending this as it can cause damage if using the wrong abrasiveness and not being gentle. believe it or not, we use steel wool on some windows. We use the vinegar/water mixture and #0004 steel wool.

Seriously not joking, again, you have to be careful doing this, but I have removed some very tought stains from glass with this process. If you have doubts, don't try it. just another option I htought I would mention for some of the more difficult water spots on glass.

    http://www.faultless.com/Products.as...leaning+Powder

I didn't get it from this outfit however.
I don't remember where I origionally got it.
A can was about $1.69...they sold them as a 6 packs only.
It's the only cleaning powder I use around the house....
It doesn't scratch like the other powders.

I've also used very light grade steel wool to remove some tough ground in water spots. We are talking 20 years of ground in. You need to be careful though as too much pressure can cause scratching. Using water or a polishing solution to lubricate the surface is recommended.

I got a 1983 Volvo's windshield cleaned off pretty nicely with this method.

I tried testing an area this morning. I did a wipe down with straight vinager and followed up with 0000 steel wool then wiped with clean cloth.
    IT WORKS. YAH!
    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just remember to rewax anything that the vinegar solution touched - vinegar removes waxes.
