Does your E34 shake/vibrate/shimmy on the highway or at some other speed?

If you have ANY vibration, you must answer YES I don't care if it goes away at 60 or only happens when you step on the brakes.

Let's see what percentage of E34s out there have "the shakes".

Post year, model and type of vibration/when it occurs and answer the poll.

driveshaft is not perfectly aligned and I don't want to drop the damn exhaust again. Serves me right for being lazy when installing the new shaft. MK 1 eyeball method just didn't cut it.

It's a minor vibration, but I notice it (no-one else does)

Shakes when I hit the brakes around 40ish. Hopefully will be solved when I do my brakes this week. Also, sometimes (depending on what wheels are on the car), it'll shake the slightest bit at 55 mph. Which I believe to be the thrust arm bushings obviously.

car used to shake like hell but ive replaced the entire front end, rearend and every bushing in the whole suspension.

Car shakes when I acceleration between 1500-3000 rpm. Major shimmy at 45-55 mph. Getting new rims and tires this week. Then go from there. 1991 535i.

My 1991 535i had the whole front end replaced a 3 years ago so drives smooth as anything.

My bro in laws' 1989 M20 E34 just developed a slight shake at 55mph and 100mph.

My buddies 1995 tds shakes so bad at 55mph it feels like the front left wheel is going to fall off, the vibrations are kinda nice actually

Front is smooth as glass. Rear has a slightly bent rim and subsequent vibration - didn't really feel it until I rode in the back. After ~110 it goes away, though

Front shook at 50-60 until I replaced the thrust arms. Nothing new there, right?

I've got a very subtle vibration from the front since about a thousand miles ago, but I'm 99% sure I knocked the tires out of balance.

i used to have one at 55mph, but after i installed the lowtecs last night, i lost the shimmy.

Last time I drove mine, it shook so bad I parked it for good. Gotta pull the driveshaft bearing and guibo for sure. Should be good to go in a month or so when I get my wedding over with.

Yessir, it shakes! Generally it shakes in the 100-120 km/h range, and sometimes around 80 km/h as well. The highway shakes would sure be nice to get rid of. The previous owner said he put in 750iL bushings, so I dunno. I've read that tires can cause shakes, and I have some crappy summer tires on (different types on front and rear too). Or perhaps replacing the entire control arms?

I get a somewhat random shake from 40-60mph.. Got under the car and the center link has play.. Already have that, but I'm waiting on idler arm

Used to shake when braking between 40-60mph, had the front rotors ground down some ridiculously tiny metric amount, and the shake is gone.

My 1995 525i shakes at any speed above 55mph. The front suspension is so shot the front end wobbles left to right like its playing hopscotch.

I sometimes get a bit of shaking when braking at around 55mph or so. Will be putting new springs on in a couple weeks so I'll see which parts are worn when I get under there
